CARSON. To the Memory of Rev. James Lyons Chesnut, D.D. The faithful friend, devoted pastor, elo– quent preacher, sound theologian and loyal patriot, who feared God and loved his fellow– men. With pleasure we dedicate these words of appreciation, to the memory of one whose life and work for twenty-five years of de– voted service was so full of hope, faith, love and good cheer, that his life was one of sun– shine, making all happy who saw it. He was a man of thought, piety, sympathy, affection, ready wit and good humor, most wonderfully combined. We appreciate his life and revere his ·memory. REV. R. W. CHESNUT, Ph. D. A True Friend. As an expression of my appreciation of Dr. Chesnut as a true friend, I will mention two incidents in my own experience, which set forth his friendly character. While he was the beloved pastor of the Coulterville R. P. Congregation, I was called tci .the pastorate of the Covenanter Congre– gation also located there.
