THE GREENE COUNTY GUARDIAN Congratulations to another addition to our progressive communities THE GUARDIAN Cedarville Returns to Meters As Village Revenue Producers Cedarville, after some three yean of free parking, rang into service 59 new parking meters on Nov. 5. Money from the meten will be used to beef up a badly sagging village treasury. Under the reign of Mayor Morris O. DeForge, who came into office last Jan. 1, the village coffers also were get ting assists from the mountain of traffic violations tagged by three police officen. Now th e parki ng meten are helping produce revenue along with the prime source--general property taxes. And, although it's general practice now for villages and municipalities to make money off parking meters, that was not the primary reason for meten some yean ago. The city of Xenia, for instance, will have an estimated $30,000 take o f f parking meters this year. But several yean ago, wh e n c o i n boxes were first installed in the county seat, it was clearly stated by that city's governing body that meters were to be used for the purpose of keep ing all-day parkers off the streets. That policy has gone by the board. Meten were abandoned tnree yean ago under the reign of Mayor Karlh Bull. They are now in operation from 8 a.m. to 8 a. m. weekdays and from 8 a. m. to 8 p. m ., Saturdays. on H ornberger A dd it ion R end en tg for S ew e r Tap Mufrt P a y $ 3 0 0 Fee for tapping into the v il-| lage sewer l i n e in James town 's Hornb e rger addition has been hiked $100 by v il lage fathers. At last Mo nd ay's council meeting, an emergency ord- inancewas passed into imm ediate law that would raise the fee for tapping into the line on unimproved property from $200 to $300. The measure was designed to spread the cost of the new line among the property own ers in the addition n o r th of the village. A u n a n i m ous vote of the council approved the suspen sion of the rules and the en actment of the ordinance.
