Each of the j. girls made their own puppets and painted their own scenery as work toward a First Class badge and a puppet badge. Lois Thayer At National 4-H Congress Achampion Cedarville 4-H girl is in Chicago this week, one of two Ohio representa tives to the N a t i o n a l 4-H club congress. She is Lois Thayer, daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Merton Thayer who was f i r s t place winner in the state competi tion with her safety speech. Mrs. Mary Mott, leader of the Happy Workers 4-H Club, of which Miss T h a y e r is a member, said that Lois has been a consistent champion in the home economics di visions in county contests. The 4-H'er left Sunday for the Windy City and is sched uled to return at week's end. ST. Rhodes. Running the sheriff’s office cost the most, a total of $57,591, with the audit or’s office running second at a total of $47,967. His clerks and dep uties drew salari.es totalling $29,869, vehicle maintenance cost $7,847 and other expen ses hit $15,694 for a total of $57,591. The office collect ed fees of $18,928. Treasurer Ha r o Id J. Faw cett drew a salary of $5,557 and his clerks'salaries total led $23,927. Fees earned tot alled $18,437. Auditor James J. Curlett was paid a salary of $5,451 plus $880 for inheritance taxes collected. His clerks 'salaries and other expenses totalled $41,635 for the $47,967total, he office collected fees of $18,928. Probate JudgeW.B. McCal ister drew a salary of $5,053 rom c o u n t y taxes and his leputies and clerks were paid 11,881. The o f f i c e earned 9,475 In fees. Clerk of Courts Russell E. Jearhart was paid$5,017and e paidhis clerks$18,689 for i total of$23,706in expens es. That compared to earn'd fees totalling $33,689. Recorder Ernest D. Beatty n a d e $4,580 last year and >aid his clerks $12,900 for a otal of $17,480 in expenses. 4is office earned fees total ling $21,819. Engineer F r e d R. Lemcke drew $5,551 last year while his assistants were paid $11, 155 for a to ta l o f $16,706. The o f f i c e earned fees of $770. Prosecutor George R. Smith, near Jamestown, drew a sal- lary of$4,401 add paid $4,20C for assistants. C o u n t y Commissioners, wi t h Myron R. Fudge of Jamestown as c h a i r ma n , were paid a total of $11,079 for their own salaries and those of their assistants. No breakdown on what Comm issioners drew was given.
