THE GREENE COUNTY GUARDIAN In a double ring ceremony performed in the country home of her parents, Miss Mary Elizabeth Edgington became the bride of James L. Crothers. The marriage was solemnized at 10:30 a.m . Nov. 17 by Rev. L. L. Gray of Xenia, for mer pastor of the Jamestown Presbyterian Church. The living room of the home of Mr. and Mrs. L. B. Leath Upham Palms, white chrysanthemums and candlelight provided the lovely setting for the marriage of Mi ss Do n n a Jean i Leath and Jordan Alfred Upham Saturday, Nov. 24, in the j Jamestown First Methodist Church. Rev. Grover C. Reed, pastor, officiated at the 7:30 p. m. service. Vocal selections were offer ed by Conner Merritt. Mrs. Tiffin Walker provided organ music. The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Lawrence A. Leath, 21 Washingtons!., Jamestown, and the late Mr. Leath. Mr. upham's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Howard K. Upham of 156As c o t Rd . , P o n t i a c , Michigan. Escorted to the alter by her uncle, Mr. Frank Poorman of Springfield, who gave her in marriage, the b r i d e was wearing a two-piece, balle rina length gown of Chantilly lace and tulle over taffeta. The skirt featured tulle and lace ruffles in panels at the side and the midriff was ac cented with a pleated taffe ta cumberbund. The strapless bodice was topped by a tight- fitting j a c k e t o f Chantilly lace with a mandarine neck line. T s r fingertip l e n g t h veil of tulle was caught by a Juliet cap dotted with seed pearls. In addition to a white Bible topped with an orchid, she carried a lace handker chief, gift of her namesake. Miss Donna Jean Slanksterof Pontiac. , ton, north of Jamestown, was decorated with an improvised altar of palms and b a s k e t s of pink and white chrysanthe mums and pompoms. Parents of the bridegroom a r e Mr. and Mrs. James T. Crothers of Jamestown. Carrying a white orchid on a white Bible, the bride was wearing a ballerina l e n g t h gown of light blue c h i f f o n and tulle over satin featur ing a fitted bodice and a por trait neckline. She was given in marriage by her father. Attending the bride as ma tron of honor was Mrs. Charles Shephard, sister of the bride groom. Her gown was of bal lerina length white chrystal- ette. Her corsage was of pink r o s e bud s . Best man.duties were performed by Char l es Shephard of Jamestown. Mrs. Edgington wore a blue crepe dress. The mother of the bri degroom was attired in aqua crepe. Pink Carna- t i o n c o r s a ges completed their outfits. Following the ceremony a buffet breakfast was s e r ved the guests. P l a c e d on the l a c e - c o v e r e d table was a three-tiered wedding c a k e d e c o r a t e d with pink and white rosebuds with a min- iature bride and bridegroom on the top. Two b owl s of roses and chrysanthemums formed the centerpiece. For her g o i n g awa y dress the bride selected a princess styled French plaid silk gown with complimenting acces s o r i e s . After a honeymoon trip to Florids, the c o u p l e will reside with the bride’s pa r e n t s . Mr. Crothers will continue to teach inGreene- view North School. Weismiller of El wood, I nd. , sister of the bride, served as matron of honor. Her gown was of rust velvet featuring a scoop n e c k l i n e and a sweeping circular skirt. Her hat band was of rust velvet with v e i l and her shoes were rust linen shells. Bronze Chrysanthe mums formed her harmon izing bouquet. The brides maids, both s i s t e r s of t h e bride, wore gowns of velvet styled like that of the ma tron of ho nor. Mrs. Marlin D. Cummings of Jamestown was gowned in dark green and Mrs. Walter P. May of Xenia wore gold velvet. Matching accessories completed their costumes and e a c h carried bronze chrysanthemums. Mrs. Leath, mother of the bride, wore a d r e s s of blue and black with compliment ing accessories. T h e d r e s s of Mrs. Upham was of b l ue velvet. Both wore white cor sages. Performing th e d u t i e s of best man was F r a n k puddy of Pontiac, with Henry Leath, brother of the b r i d e , and Marlin Cummings as groom 's attendants. Following the wedding, a reception for the newly-weds was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth D. Leath, brother and sister-in-law of the bride, memb e r s of the immediate families atten ded. After a brief stay in James town, the c o u p l e l e f t for Cape Cod, Ma s s . , wh ere they will reside for the re mainder of M r. U p h a m ’s tour of duty. As a member of the Air Force, Mr. Upham served injamestown, Labra dor, and at present at North Trure, Cape Cod. The new Mrs. Upham, a graduate of Ross Township S c h o o l , has been e m p l o y e d as deputy clerk, Greene Courfity Pro bate Court, Xenia. Out of state g u e s t s at the wedding included M r. and Mrs. Howard K. Upham, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Eckman, Mr. and Mrs. F r a n k P u d d y o f Pontiac; and Mr. and Mrs. William Gordon of Birming ham, Mich., sister and bro ther-in-law of th e b r i d e groom. They will return to Reily, Ohio, where they will make their home The new Mrs. Hurley is the Huron. daughter o f Rev. and Mrs. J. Leslie Bell of Cedarville. The bridegroom is th e son of Mr. and Mrs. Estal Hurley of Oxford. The marriage was s o l e m nized November 16 at 7:30 in the First Presbyterian Church in Cedarville by Rev. Bell assisted by the bride's broth er-in-law, Rev. Donald Bar tow of Toledo. The double- ring candlelight service was enhanced by decorations of palms and spray bouquets of white chrysanthemums. Nup tial music was presented by Rev. G e o r g e Lee Bell of Wearing a gown o f w h i t e embroidered satin, the bride was escorted to the altar by her father who gave her in marriage. Her gown featured a h i g h neckline w i t h a V- back. The f l a r e d skirt was swept in the back to form four bustles. Her Pearl en crusted crown caught a net veil of fingertip length. She c a r r i e d a cluster of daisy chrysanthemums. Miss Celia Bell, s i s t e r of the bride, was maid of hon or. She was gowned in tur quoise taffeta with matching accessories. Her b o u q u e t , .like those of the attendants was of baby orchid chrysan themums surrounding d u s ters of artificial grapes. At tending the bride were Mrs. Donald (Mary) Bartow, Mrs. E. Ri ch ar d (Alice) Coy of O a k w o o d , s i s t e r s o f the bride, and Miss Andre Webb er of Oxford, O ., cousin of the groom. They wore gowns of dark plum taffeta styled like that of the bride. Their crown hats and shoes match ed their costumes. For her daughter's wedding, Mrs. Bell c h o s e a dress of rose silk with which she com bined a white hat and black accessories. Mr s . Hu r l e y wore a blue lace dress with blue hat and black aaccesso- ries. T h e y b o t h wore cor sages of p i n k c a r n a t i o n s . Seated with members of the immediate family were Mrs. Walter H u r l e y o f Oxford, and Mrs. Miller of Hamilton, Ohio, grandmothers o f t h e groom, and Don and Ray Bell o f t u s c u l s o n C o l l e g e , Greeneville, T e n n . , and m r. and Mr s . S a m u e l Graham Bell and family of Bowling Green, Ohio Duties of b e s t m a n were performed by Robert Webber of Oxford. Serving as ushers And groom's attendants were Jim Miller, John Moorehead and Allen Reed of Oxford. The couple was honored at a r e c e p t i o n in the church parlor following the wedding. A t h r e e - t i e r e d cake sur rounded by lavendar mums and grape c l u s t e r s formed the table centerpiece. The new Mrs. Hurley is a graduate of ReilyHigh School and has been employed as a transcript c l e r k a t Miami University.
