PAGE 2 JANUARY 17, 195 the gremm comnty GUARDIAN RAMS RIOT IN 7th Valley Crushed 92-50 by Greeneview Spring Valley suffered the ill fortune last Friday night of tangling with the rambling Rams of G r e e n e v l ew High Jfm Gatten Greeneview’s prowess on th e po l i s h e d boards has reached the point now wherein there has been mention of an all-state rating in at least one of the wire service polls. * The Rams currently are f a v o r e d to cop the Greene County League c r own and we 're inclined to go along with th a t.. .sharply inclined, in fact, since there isn't much opposition in sight from here to the tiara. But a state rating?--Can't go a l ong with that at this point. Also, there appears to be some doubt about the sagacity of such a rating at this point in the season. Greeneview has 1o s t t h r e e ball games. They were close,- Two of them by only one point, in fact, but they 'were lost. Of course, they also were lost before the Rams really hit their stride. It's c e r t a i n l y true that Coach Fred Longhas brought the crew alongway since practice opened at the close ofthe football season. The Rams still have two full ball games to gain the league crown. Then there's the tournament trail yet to travel. The tournament trek always is treacherous. And, what with the fluctuating scoring punch shown so far this season by individual members of the Greene view crew, it's hard to predict too far into the tourna ment jumble. Don't think we're taking anything away from the gla mour of the Rams' seven-game winning streak. On the contrary, this is an attempt to point out the fallacy of thinking anyone's wearing the crown at this point. Even last year's state championship Lockland Wayne crew now is struggling pretty far down in the state ranks. But fans hereabouts know what that aggregation can do in a tournament. So, rather than assure the local lads they have a champ ionship under their belt, allow us to remind them that there still are some important basketball games to be played. Pointing out the important ones isn't hard: Everyone! There may be thoughts of the s t a t e finals. But, right now, there are at least two ball games to the league crown, a county tournament and a district tournament at Xenia. Then, if we 're still in the f r a y , there's the regional tourney at Troy and the state prelim s before anything like real state rank can be achieved. Just keep cool, lads, and play more of the same kind of basketball. ■ ■ i “ Jefferson Unjierched By 73-49 Loss to Bellbrook School.
