Jamestown Bus Flames on US Route 35 Trip Fast-acting Philemon Cap- linger, a driver for the Day- ton and Southeastern Lines, In c., of J ame s t own , was credited with averting trag edy when a bus of that line caught fire last week near P l e a s a n t Valley on U. S. Route 35. The bus, wh i c h had just been refueled with 100 gal lons at Chillicothe, became a holocaust and backed up traffic for a mile and a half. Flames melted utility wires along the highway. Caplinger's a 11 e n tion was called to the fire by a pas senger who smelled smoke. He found a fire in the engine, at the rear of the bus, led 16 p a s s e n g e r s t* safety and called firemen. T imberlake Death Comes Friday at 74 Frank Timberlake died Fri day at the L i v e l y Nursing Home in Jamestown. He was 74. A native of Jamestown, Mr. Timberlake had been in failing health several years. He was born here June 27, 1882, the son of Rufus and Elizabeth Sesslar Timberlake and had been a lifelong re sident. Surviving are four sisters, Mrs. Ray Williamson, Mrs. Harry Miller andMrs. Frances Carter of Jamestown and Mrs. Ella Sutton of Xenia. Services were held Monday at the Pswers Funeral Home with burial in J a m e s t o wn cemetery.
