Martha's Sabbath Lessons

19 MARTHA’S SABBATH LESSONS A Christian’s responsibility January 17, 1892 Scripture: Luke 3:10 “And the people asked Him, saying, What shall we do then?” Martha’s Thoughts: “Our business is to preach the gospel to the vast multitudes in this wilderness world- Subject of the text is the nature of the true convert. What shall we do is the language of a humble penitent soul. The first step to the road to heaven is repentance and the first lesson a child has to learn is obedience and submission and when a child has learned that lesson well it is fitted for the great battle of life. And this is the first lesson that parents have [to] teach. When we ask what would thou have me to do means that we are ready for whatever God may require of us- If we are in earnest we feel our individual responsibility and a willingness to take Christ for our all- and will devote our lives to his services.” Remember: Christ has prepared the work He wants Christians to do. Christians have an individual responsibility to pursue with humility, obedience, and submission the work Christ asks us to do. Submitted by: Michelle Wood
