It would be intere, ting to be able to give a detailed aceonnt of Cedar– Yille' athletic progr , s, hut we can only give here a brief sketch of C. C. ' athletic life. Jn the fir t year of the work of the college, the Rev. Jame D. t le of Philadelphia bowed hi interest in Cedarville hy the donation of r football uniform. . Se,eral years later a · g)'mnasium ,\"as equipped in a bu ine block downtown. In 1902 Mr. ,V. ,J. Alford donated to the co1lege the building which no,Y stands as a memorial to 11i8 father and mother, Dr. and 1\Irs. Jno. Alford. This gave athleti · a ne,,· life, and eyer ince thi edifice has been a blessing to Cedarvill e students for their physical deYelopment. The building affords a fine basket ball floor and a' a result basket ball is Cedarville 's best supported and most succe sful sport. In the pa t few year some of the faste t basket ball team of the middle we t have appeared on the local floor and Cedarville has invariably (?) been Yictorion . Ba eball and tenni do not lack for supporters as every " ·hole onie sport finds its place in Cedarville student life. You cannot see a Cedarville game without being impre sed with the "never-say-die" spirit which has so often natched victory from the very jaws of defeat. May this spirit abide in the future; a spirit which wi11 muster every ounce of energy for the sake of Yictory but which will not sacrifice honor for the laurels of a Yictor. The girls have always had a prominent place in the athletic of the chool, e p,ecially in ba ket ball. The team of the last ea on ha heen the trongest that C. C. has ever supported for years, and by defeating :\Iiami Univer ity, for nine years undefeated, they wrested from that school the Championship of the State of Ohio. The summary of both teams for the ea on just pas ed is giYen on the following page .
