Your State Missionary ,, • t up your I c1n 00 on To be a success in any endeavor, a person needs to be aware of the opportunity before him. Jesu tried to arouse an awareness of this kind in his disciples when he said to them, ··. . . Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest." We need to know our opportunity in Ohio. There are 674 communities without a Regular Bap– tist Church. These communities range from a few hundred in population to over a half-million. There ar e 276 with a population of 1 000 to 5,000; 75 with a population of 5,000 to 10,000, 41 with a population of 10 - 000 to 25,000 and 18 with popula– tions of over 25,000. Most of these areas are within a radius of 40 miles of an already existing Regular Baptist Church. Perh~ps the Lord would like for you to be the instrument in Hi hand to meet the need in one of the e communities. Others use opportunity Others have taken note of the op– portunity. In 1925, the Assemblie of God had 909 churches but in the intervening years they have grown to over 10,000 churches and for the past ten years have started a church a day. The Southern Baptists have started 10 churches every day for the last two years and the Mormons, with their extensive home missionary program PRAISE AND THANKSGIVING By Jennie Wildon-Howell Not alone for the ripe11ed field Not a/011e for the harvest ) 1 iel<l, Not alone for the birds and flow'rs, Nol alor1e for tl1e si,n and s/1 0\.·v'rs W e'd Praise T/1)' N a111e, our fat /1er- God, T/1at 1,1,ou art Lortl of eart/1 a11d socl, 1'/1at ripe11ed grai11, at1d fr1 11t , a,1cl I lov.,'r Are S)'l11bols of 1'11)' 111ig/1t)' p<Jiv'r. l ;or all of t/1ese 01,1.r tl1a11ks i-ve'tl • raise J,1 grate/11/ sacrifice of /Jraise. or ti/cJ11e jc)r 1/1e love of f ri 1 11tl.\ , N()t alo11e for tl1e grief 1/1at e11ll.\, Not a/011e for tl1e /101,rs of 111irtl1 , Not alo11e for tl1e jO)'S of eart/1, Th OHIO INDEPENDENT BAPTIST eyes, t 1e • s" e Rev. The population increa e is about two per cent per year. We would need to tart five churche a year just to kee,p our pre ent percentage ratio. .. It would take 250 churches at present attend– ance figures to reach 3 per cent of the population or about 800 churche to reach one per cent of the poula– tion.
