Perhap thi di ary log will be intere ting to }'OU . July 22 - We left Pro pect, Ohio, on a hot , humid d·ay. Our car wa loaded with a pa~ked carrier on top. a full trunk, and boxe in the back eat with pillow on top which erved a a bed for the children. R,ain in the afternoon brought relief to the warm traveler . Three of the children were in the bed in ,the back se,at while Mommie, D addy, and a nother child occupied the front eat . We held a ervice at Carpenter vil le, Ill. in the evening. Jul y 23 - We enjoyed the ho - pitality of the Gerald Titu e . It ':a good to ee their new church being con tructed. We traveled into Wi con– s1n and pent the night ,at Meno- • mon1e. Jul y 24 - The breakfast roll thait Grandma had made for u ta ted good a we ate our breakfa t in the motel room. Lunoh wa eaten in the car as we were traveling, and about 5 o'clock we topped at a park and cooked egg and bacon. We ate ome of the fresh vegetable from Grand– pa Kirby's garden. Al o we had bread, cookie and chocolate milk. At night we topped at Lake Bron on , Minn . All of u~ quite tired beoau~e we had tr aveled 13 hour th at day in a small , crowded ca r . Jul y 25 - Verne's birthday wa~ tod ay and he celebra ted it without cake and ice crean1 . A usual, we ate Oltr breakfa t in ot1r motel room near l_ar1cas tcr , Minn . We topped at a motel in Edmonton, anada, where we on– ly had to pay 9.00 for a room with a refrigerator 1and tove. We bought son1e hamburger and cooked our SL1pper in the motel room. Jul y 28 - The egg and bacon we cooked in our room melled and ta ted very good. Lunch ait a camp– in,g place con ,i ted of a andwich and ome oanned dirink . That night in D aw on Creek anada we looked the town over . Thi i the beginning of the Ala ka Hi -Way (Mile 0). Jul y 29 Aifter toa t and cocoa in our room we went to a grocer y tore to buy ome grocerie . Peo,ple warned u that food wou ld be ex– pen ive on the Al a ka Hi -Way. We met a hri tian n1 an ait a g,a ta- li on on the H·i-Way. When we topped that night at Fort Nel on Verne not iced nhat one of the ra,:k on the luggage carri er w·a bent . He fixed it at ,a ervice taition . Ju ly 30 - The motel room had a tove, o we had pancake and cocoa for breakif,a t. We traveled in Briti h Columbi a ·and the Yukon . Some people paid 80 cent a quart for milk but we found ome for 60 cent . We pent ·the night at Wat on Lake on the Ala k,a Hi– way. Jul y 31 - We made a ign , ROG R , K NTU KY and left it with a ll the other .. ign at Wat on Lake . LaVerne wa ick a ll day with an up et t rnach . I t i imilar to other citie through which we had traveled. We found ,a place to ea t that adverti , ed hamburger s at 29 cent and milk hake for 29 cen1t . On the Ala ka Hi-way we had no– ticed that h1an11bL1rger . old for $ 1. We were very hungry for fri e~I ohicken o we ate fri e(i c hi cken whi le other ate hamburger . We found the Dale Davi e (Bapti t Mid– Mi ion mi ionarie ) at Spenard and ,pent the nigh,t with nhem. Part of the Redmond fa111il y ( al o Bapti -- t Mid-M i 1 ion. mi ionarie. ) w e r e there too. Augu~t 4 - We rea~hed our de5- tination at Anchor Poin,t at about 6: 30. We drove on to Homer to pend everal night · with the Jack 00 1 per . We are lo·oking for a place to live at Anchor Point. No thing i~ avai lab le, o it look. a thottgh we w i11 have to buy a traiIer. Wc ap– prec iate your prayer o mu ch. The daily urpni e package from the Stanley Kirby meant a lot to the chi ldren.
