A camp director's drea n1 would be abou t the best descripti on th at could be given to the Awana Schol a r hip Camp held at Silver Birch Ranch in Wisconsin. Two hundred Timoth y and Meritorious Award Winner fr om twenty states, from Maine to Wash– ington, from Oklahoma to Minnesota gathered for a tremendous week of piritual growth and recreation. A Timothy Award winner is one who has completed three years of Awana books and a meritorious Award win– ner has completed s ix years. These were the cream of the young people. Memorization of the Word of God , Bible study and meetings a t which the challenge for Christian service was put forth, were not things which they sought to avoid, but which they keenly des ired. Each speaker could feel the campers were hanging on to every word that was sa id . What a tin1e of testimonies was held on Fri– day ni ght ! Tears of joy, spirit born conviction of God's working jn the ir lives and a rejoicing in the wonderful c;alvation which wa<; theirs in Ch r ic;t covered over an hour and a half of tcsti n1ony time. Miss ing were the usual problen1s ~een so often in coed camps, a the campe rs recognized the greater goa ls of the camp. Lest one wou ld think that this ,va<; a ll that .happened, there were many good hours spe nt in recreation. shoot– ing the rapidc;, playing ball , riding the horses on the tra il, pl us ot her good ,.vholeson1c fun for C hri st ian boy · and girls. Yes, a can1p director 's dream a to the ca1nper , but also a to the staff of Awa na leaders from around the cou n– try. Four Awana Mi ss ionaries and five camp direc tors were on the taff. 1\1o t serving as cabin leaders along with experienced Awana leade r a nd direc– tors .
