In 1971, the first Walk-a-thon to Springfield, Ohio raised over $20,000 and in 1972 that amount was doubled. Bleachers D-Day Departure-Day for the six teen Cedarville College athletes fron the West Coast, is scheduled for Au gust 20, 1973. On April 15, following the morning worship service, the congreg ation met at their building s ite, to break ground for their new church building to be constructed at a cost of about $275,000. Thi s church began just three years ago, April 5, 1970 with seven families. Rev . Joseph Stowell became the ir pastor on May 30, 1970 . The church has shown a steady growth and is averag– ing about 250 on Sunday mornings. Perrin Woods Elementary School is thei r meet ing p lace unt il completion of their new facilit ies MILLERSBURG - Rev. Charles Lunsford has been giving able leadership to the Millersburg Bapt ist Church, started on April 5, 1970 . A new bu ild ing was completed recently and dedicated to the l ord on Sunday afternoon, April 8 . Mr . Everett Fox led the congrega– tion in the build ing program and much of the work was done by volun teer labor. This is a lovely bu ild ing and has the unique feature of havi ng pews and pulpit furniture made by the contractor. Rev. David Elmore was the speaker for the Dedication Service. Although th is church began w ith a very few people, meeting for Sunday services in the Cast le Theatre, it has experienced a good growth , O n a recent Sunday there were 163 in attendance and their Sunday schoo l is le ad ing in the ir d ivision, in a Sunday School contest with other churches in that general area. 8 JUNE, 1973 MARIE TT A - One of the fas test growing churches started in our Association in recent years is the Calvary Baptist Church of Mar ietta, under the able leadership of Rev. Al _D'Amato. Sunday Services were started on October 24, 1971 in Phillips Elementary School. Rev. D'Amato accepted the challenge to pastor this new church and began his ministry on April 11, 1972. With a strong evangel istic thrust, this church has grown in the last year from an attendance of about 25 to an average of 263 in the Morning Service, 249 in Sunday School and t 18 in the evening service, during the month of March. During that month there were 43 decisions for salvation and 2 for assurance of salvation. A church building was purchqsed at 325 N. 7th Street but these facilities are already taxed to their capacity. RICHMOND - The most recently started new church, is the Grace Baptist Church, Richmond, Ohio. Mr. Edward Hohn started a Bible Class in his home last winter, and the group was ready to start Sunday Services on March 4. The services are being held in the Richmond Elementary School with attendance in the 20's. Supply pastors are filling the pulpit until a pastor is called. Brother Hohn is a deacon at Grace Baptist Church, Carrollton, one of the new churches started about two years ago. The Carrollton Church is sponsoring the church at Richmond.
