“I wanted a college that was strong in engineering where I could also take Bible classes. That narrowed my choices pretty quickly to just a few schools. When I looked at Cedarville, the overall breadth of programs and the great social atmosphere were big factors in my choice. The one thing I didn’t expect when I came to Cedarville was the close interaction with my professors. All classes are taught by full-time faculty, most with Ph.D.s–– no teaching assistants. You can walk into a prof’s office at any time and ask questions. Engineering competitions have been a highlight of my Cedarville experience. I worked with our solar electric boat team that competed in the Netherlands for international competition. We’ve already been named champions of Solar Splash ® twice. Solar Splash ® is the world championship of solar boating. When we go to these competitions, very few other Christian colleges are even represented. We compete against teams from big-name schools like Virginia Tech, Yale, Cal-Poly, and the Air Force and Naval Academies, and we’re right at the top. Meet Tim Storer Even though engineering is an intense program, I’ve enjoyed many opportunities to be involved in ministry. My first two years I participated in a jail ministry leading informal church services for inmates. It was really interesting because you never knew who would be there, what questions they’d ask, or what their attitudes would be toward the Bible. I’ve also volunteered with Habitat for Humanity and worked at Joy Ranch, a camp for troubled kids. Most recently, I’ve been attending the Dayton Chinese Church tutoring Chinese students in English. Whether it’s ministry experiences or late-night conversations with guys in the dorm, Cedarville will challenge you to move forward in your faith. After graduation, I will be working as an electrical engineer with Procter & Gamble. P&G recruits regularly at Cedarville’s on-campus career fairs. They first offered me an internship piloting a new software concept. When I return full-time, I’ll be designing automated control systems for their production lines. I wanted an engineering program that would get me where I wanted to go. Cedarville’s done that and a lot more!” More than 300 corporate and grad school recruiters visit campus every year, opening doors to lifelong ministry and rewarding careers. Hometown: Colman, South Dakota Major: Electrical Engineering Highlights: Solar electric boating design competition, intelligent ground vehicle design competition, Habitat for Humanity, jail ministry, Dayton Chinese Church, internships with Procter & Gamble and Daktronics, intramural basketball and dodge ball, and in his free time? 10
