“In high school I called myself a Christian, went to church, played the role, did youth group and all that. But I didn’t have a growing relationship with Christ. He didn’t impact the decisions I made, and He wasn’t a factor in the career I chose. Wow, since coming to Cedarville, it’s been a 180! So many people are on fire for Christ. Speakers in chapel, professors who are so in love with the Lord, and friends who’ve helped me work through really big decisions. The whole experience has completely changed my life. I chose Cedarville because of the communication major, especially the highly-regarded forensics and theatre programs. I don’t want this to sound cliché at all, but the quality of Cedarville’s communication program is found in the breadth of what’s available. If you’re interested in film, there’s Halo–– the student film company. If you are interested in acting in film, you can get involved in as many different student films as you have time. If you’re theatre-driven, there are classes and productions to get involved with acting, directing, designing, and performing. If you’re into radio, there’s U99.5, the student • More than 100 ministry teams serving in area churches, schools, social agencies, inner- city outreaches, and community programs • Traveling drama, music, and puppet teams that minister in churches and schools across the nation • Discipleship groups that provide opportunities for Bible study, mentoring, accountability, prayer, and open discussion • Missions and study abroad opportunities that reach nearly every corner of the world Service for Eternity Meet Abbie McGaha radio station. Literally, every avenue you can think of— singing, acting, writing, speaking. I’ve had so many opportunities at Cedarville. I’ve acted in great theatre productions like All My Sons, Another Antigone, The Shadowbox, and Romeo and Juliet . I’ve competed in forensics and traveled with Lifeline Players, Cedarville’s drama ministry team. Forensics and Lifeline are two completely different kinds of ministry, but both have taught me how to live for Christ and pursue Him wholeheartedly. With Lifeline, you’re in churches, fellowshiping with other believers, encouraging them, and sharing your personal walk with Christ. With forensics, it’s all about evangelism— hard core, witnessing and communicating with people who are anti-God and too often use their skills to glorify evil. In the real world, you need to be able to do both. Last summer I interned in Los Angeles for an agent and learned about casting. I did background work on some television shows— ‘Seventh Heaven,’ ‘Monk,’ ‘Without A Trace,’ and others. It wasn’t anything too big, but it gave me experience in the field. Cedarville’s forensics and debate programs are among the nation’s finest. The forensics team was the top-ranked Christian university at the national tournament. Our debate team also finished the year #1 in Ohio, #1 in our five-state district, and #1 among Christian universities.
