The department has been producing graduates for thirty years. Currently there are around 70 majors with 12-15 expected this year. Dr. Callan said a plus for the program is the "great deal of hands on experience" for students. The department emphasizes more than just a physical education degree to make students more marketable. As for the department itself, Dr. Callan is pleased,"I would say we are very well rated." In Los Alamos National Laboratories he works with medical groups in health promotion; he also creates training programsand conducts tests for security personnel. Before his entrepreneurial endeavors, Burkhalter taught physical education at Faith Baptist College for three years. While at Cedarville, Burkhalter stated, "I was challenged by philosophy... I learned to think critically." lie said that he "enjoyed the open mindedness and acquired the desire to read... Cedarville wasfor me a wonderful learning experience."
