A good friend Shelly Harris notes,"Laura was real in everything she did." In spring of 1988, Laura was diagnosed with cancer. She battled her disease without complaint until January 5, 1989. Her time was devoted to her studies: she wanted to use her Behavioral Science major in helping others. She may not have finished her college dream, but she was true to her goal of encouraging others even through her illness. The students of Cedarville will never forget the inspiring diary of Debbie Kettle. On the first chapel of the 198889 school year, Dr.Dixon read how Debbie wanted her life to make a difference at Cedarville. Through her godly heart, others could see wisdom and love. She always had a smile and a kind word. In the summer of 1988, Debbie went home to be with the Lord. Those who attended her funeral knew that the balloons exemplified the true inward peace and joy that Debbie had and wished for others.
