1990 Miracle Yearbook

Husband and wife team Doug and Melissa Filter look over an article for the next issue of Cedars . Cedars, a student publication, is the bi-weekly newspaper of Cedarville College. Under the direction of Doug Filter, editor, and Dr. Johnson, advisor, the 1989-90 Cedars has undergone much change. Improved quality and image are outward manifestations of some of the behind-the-scenes improvements. The Cedars staff began the year with service as the key objective. Cedars also modified its mission, as printed in the staff box of every issue: "Committed to the pursuit of excellence, Cedars will continually strive to honor and glorify our Lord Jesus Christ." In addition, the newspaper expanded its "readership" with a subscription list of over 300, making Cedars a good link to parents and donors. At the beginning of the 8889 academic year, Cedars entered the world of desktop publishing. During the 89-90 year Cedars has greatly advanced in its knowledge and ability to use desktop. This year has seen the addition of a laser printer and a second computer to aid in the efficient quality production of the Cedars which is now almost 100% self-sufficient. Modern technology has taken the college newspaper from the realm of cutting and pasting to the wonderful arena of mouse training and desktopping. Cedars operates with five editors, two sub-editors, numerous photographers, and many writers. Working with a student-run 'publication not only provides excellent experience but also is very exciting, challenging, and satisfying. — Doug Filter CEDARS First Row:Melissa Filter, Doug Filter, Kathy Duhaime Second Row:Eric Cochran, Margaret Alexander, Alicia Diller, Laura Fenimore, Melissa Bethel Third Row: Matthew Anderson,Susan Nicholson, Dana Weld,Gary Hoag photo by Eric Cochran photo by Eric Coahron Melissa Filter trains next year's layout editor, Beth Burke. 111111ho 196 Organizations
