First There Were Many Miracles.. Whether they are from Ohio or Florida,South America or Europe, each person who comes to Cedarville has a background. Every student comes with a testimony of how God has led him or her to repentance. For many the decision to attend Cedarville was easy. For others it was very difficult. But all of the students at Cedarville College can testify to the miracles that finally brought them here. Even though these miracles may not fit the formal theological definition, the miracles of birth and rebirth, repentence and renewal, parental guidance and the process of maturing are all factors which led students to Cedarville, Ohio. As students come with different sized suitcases, each of which holding unique contents, they also come with different emotional, mental and spiritual baggage,as God has led each of them down separate paths with unique experiences and challenges. Two common threads, however, unite all of these very diverse paths. All of them are forged and paved by the'Lord Jesus Christ. "In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight" (Proverbs 3:6). And all of those paths led to one small Ohio town to merge together for a brief four years. 2 Opening

... And Then the Miracles Merged To merge, according to Webster,is"to come together so as to form one." Every student at Cedarville represents a miracle, or to be more precise, many miracles. It is when these miracles come together to form one that the special life at Cedarville begins. Students unite in ministry as they seek to win the lost in surrounding communitiesor as they sing in one voice in praise to their God. Many ministry teams do nothing more than try to be a help to the helpless as they minister in hospitals or nursing homes. Other teams come together to teach children what it means to be a Christian. Students unite in competition as they play on one of the many sports teams at Cedarville or as they give a show of spirit and support from the stands. Students unite in learning as they engage in open dialogue and debate in the classroom and in the dorms. Students unite in friendship as the many activites, organizations, and even hours spent hanging around the dorm rooms provide a setting for countless memories to be made. In every area of life at Cedarville College, any onlooker can see students who are "coming together" for a common purpose — the glory of the Lord. — Jesse Wesselink Opening 5
Dedicated to Following God's Leading If any faculty member has shown how God can merge a great diversity of experiences in molding one individual for service, it is Dr. Richard Durham.A Professor of New Testament and Greek, Dr. Durham has given his students a living testimony to God's faithfulness and leading. Dr. Durham has been testimony of patriotism as he served in the U.S. Navy during WWII.He has been a testimony of burden for the lost as he ministered for 18 years in the Philippines, and served as advisor for the FWM,the MK Fellowship, and the MIS Committee at Cedarville. He has also been a testimony of dedication to excellence as he has encouraged his students to do their very best. Now as Dr. Durham retires from full-time teaching, Cedarville College says "farewell,"and "thank you." photo Dr. Durham prepares for his last( ceremony as a full-time faculty m by Jesse Wesselink :ommencement ember. Awards were given according to academic departments and were handed out by the department chairs. Many students were honored with awards for their achievements and for their Christian testimony. One new award that was given this year in the music department was the Kristi Lynn Walborn Memorial Scholarship Award. This award is given in memory of Kristi Walborn, a former Cedarville student, and is granted to a music major or music education major who has a vocal emphasis. Recognition was also given to those students who met the requirements for the Dean's Honor List and the Dean's List for Spring and Fall 1990, and Winter quarter 1991. The last awards given during the Honors Chapel were the Staff and Faculty Members of the Year Awards. The awards were given by Jeff Tague, President of the Student Academic Advisory Board: Staff Member of the Year,David Ormsbee;Faculty Member of the Year, Galen Smith. Both were deserving because of their achievements and involvement with students. — Lisa Gillett 10 Academics

Remembering the Past. •• During my twenty-seven years of teaching, thousands of students have walked into my classroom; some have walked into my life. Bryan Armstrong was one of those students. He typified the Cedarville College student during his years here: active in his social life, diligent in his studies, responsible in his extra-curricular activities, maturing in his walk with God. For all of his four years (1979-1983) at Cedarville, he worked on the Miracle staff; for two of those years he was the editor-in-chief. His theme for the 1982 book was "changes." He wrote in his "Last Writes" on the editor's page about how changes had affected his life that year and how in producing the book, God had changed him. In 1983, he ended his editor's "reflections": "To reflect accurately on four years at Cedarville, it is impossible to leave God out of the picture. In every event, every lesson, every trial, every joy, and every incident that sticks out clearly in my memory, the hand of God is evident." He ended the two volumes with this scripture: "Buthe knoweth the way that I take; when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold" (Job 23:10). Now he is forever changed! — Pat Dixon Brian Armstrong, 1961-1991 Students provide an outline of the new engineering building for an aerial camera. photo by Eric Cochrin 22 Academics

The Cedarville Family Family. What does this word have to do with Cedarville College? The student body ofthe college is very much like a family in many ways. Daily chapel brings the student body together in praise and worship of our Lord and provides a common meeting place for friends before and after each service. Chapel spiritually nourishes the college with Enrichment Conferences and special speakers throughout the school year. Not only do the students worship as a family, but also they live as a family.Dormsfoster relationships that will last a lifetime as roommates, unit-mates and hall-mates build friendships based on love, trust and fun. Cedarville College worships, lives and prays as a family. Every quarter a day is set aside especially for prayer. The Day of Prayer unifies the students as they meet with each other to pray and give thanks. On February 12, 1991, the college gathered on the Day ofPrayer to pray specifically for the soldiers in the Desert Storm;from the Wall of Prayer to individual students, there was always someone for whom to pray. The family atmosphere of Cedarville College is one of its greatest assets. Without the overtones offamily, the college would be just another establishment of higher education. — Meredith Clements Hartman,Angela Hayner,Randy Heldreth, Michelle Henry,Angela Herrick,John Heyd,Ruth Heying, Tina Hickman,Georgia Hiebert, Aaron Higley, Ann Hoffeditz, Kimberly Hoffman,John Hoke,Gara Holcomb,Steven Holley,Rachel Holmes,David Horine, Benjamin Howard,Rachel Howe,Cory Howell, Tiffany Hoy,Timothy Huber, Nicole Huber,Pearl Huber,Philip Husaker,Stephanie Hunt,Carmen Hutchison,Stephaney Irving, Mark lien, Bradford Jariga, Bill Johnson,Edward Johnson,Jonathon Johnson,Jennifer Johnson,Judy Johnson, Marcy Johnston, April Johnston, Faith Joiner, Randall Jones, Barry Jones, Christian Jones,Susan Justice, Tonya Kadlecik, Bradd

One ofthe bumps, which at the time I thought was a mountain, was registering for classes. At first I thought"Registration won't be that bad."I was wrong! Registration for spring quarter is something I will never forget. I remember being excited when I found those green sheets in my mail box.I started casually thumbing through them and deciding what classes I wanted to take.In all reality I should have left my CRF blank and gone to registration and asked,"What's left?" My bump of registration was that I registered on the last day of registration and the next to last time period. By the time I actually got to registration, I was a wreck. The night before registration I was ready to throw in the towel, but my dad was there with an encouraging voice saying,"Dear, the bumps are what we climb on." Unfortunately his daughter was skinning her knees on those bumps. I did make it through registration without any injuries. Even though I did not get the exact classes I wanted, I learned that"The bumps are truly what we climb on." — Came Mann

Wylie, Kristin Yates, Michelle Zalut, Lynn Zehrung,Lisa Zerby, Daniel The Life ofa Freshman photo by Shawn Mattison R.A. John Stewart helps a freshman move in during "Getting Started." What does it mean to be a freshman? It certainly doesn't mean prestige and position. A freshman must endure the hardships of life at the bottom of the college ladder. Fall registration begins the humiliation. The freshman must get accustomed to standing in lines for all the essentials: registration packet, room key, clinic information and I.D. Once he possesses these items,a search for the first dorm room ensues. On arrival, he discovers his new roommate is already there unpacking and filling the entire boxlike room with his belongings. The girls discover that their roommate looks nothing like the self described Miss America they expected while the guys find that their roommate is more interested in chess and bio-chemistry than football and upperclass females. Once adjustments are made though, roommates settle in for a nine month adventure and begin to enjoy each other. The agony is hardly over as long lines and scarce late passes grace the first year of college. Yet as each freshman becomes initiated into life at the Ville, he begins to enjoy his year of pleasure before the time comes to declare a major and take college seriously. — Meredith Clements

The Cedarville College campus evacuated on February 8 for a long weekend of fun and relaxation. Many students went home for good food, soft mattresses, hot water and clean clothes; other students left the lovely state of Ohio for snow and skiing in Pennsylvania,New York and Michigan. Some even made a quick trip South to capture rays for their winter-white bodies. The rest of the students remained on campus and finished the remainder of the quarter's assignments. The weekend didn't last long enough, however, because Monday morning inevitably arrived to herald another week of stress and studies. — Meredith Clements Donaldson,Timothy Driscoll, Thomas Durham,Terri Eastlund, Shelly Eastman,Andrew Edwards,Jill Edwards,Michael Ellis, Darlene Entner, Jeff Failor, Samuel Feliciano, Amy Furguson,Jennifer Ferrigno, Michelle Field, Jason Fiorito, Shelley Fishchbacher, Christine Floyd, Timothy Fontaine, Scott Foster, Elizabeth Foster, James Francis, Bradely Francisco, Steve Fry, Kassandra Fulton,Elizabeth Fulton, Heather Furman,Brenda Furman,Dana Futch,James Gasparro,Kathleen Gathany, Kari Geiger,Amy Geise,James Ghere,Eric Gibbs, Kristen Gifford,Joshua Gillett, Lisa Gilson, Matthew Gingerrich, Maria Glauthier, Renee Glenzer,Holly Gollihugh, Karen Good,Sarah Gordon,Andrea

What happens after hours on the Cedarville College campus? After the library doors are closed, the lights are shut off in the chapel; the CC is locked and the AC is empty? Even after dead air fills the spot of WSRN? What happens? The night life begins! Popcorn and fast Uno. Pepsi and computer games. Rook and hall ball. And if you are in the right place on the right night, you might even catch the ghost of Pumphin Head Suicide! There are even some students still up at deadly hours ofthe night who will gladly ask you to abide by Quiet Hour rules, but that happens only in those few elite dorms. Between Meijers and Young's runs, taken in the wee hours when nothing else is open, engaged guys are laked and engaged girls are on the phone telling everyone about it. In the darkest hours, floating objects mysteriously appear to grace the murky waters of Cedar Lake. Closer to morning the Rock gets another healthy dose of spray paint as an orange glow peeks over the horizon to spread a new day on a slice of Cedarville life. — Meredith Clements IA Ak th ....., . .. . • ?.. 4t. The Final Days Getting Packard nals. - Photo by Marsha Olsen comfortable, Christian intently prepares for fiFinals week is something that many college students don't even want to think about. For those who tend to put things off,it is the time when they realize just how much work college can be. Others get nervous about taking tests — especially when the tests are as important as final exams are. Of course, there are some students who are faithful in their studies throughout the quarter. When it comes to studying for final exams, these people have a definite advantage over those who procrastinate. Whether or not they kept up with their work during the quarter, finals week often means staying up late to study. Unfortunately, studying is one ofthe last things students want to do when they are tired. It is very easy to become distracted and start thinking about the coming break,or even to fall asleep. Needless to say,it is a great relieffor everyone when final exams are over and students can relax for a while. — Stephen Abbott Wintermute,Pamela Wood,Casey Wood,Kara Woodard,Jennifer Woods,Brenda Wright,Ron Wright,Susan Wyman,Kaym Wymer,Tamara Yankovich,Sheryl Yoder, Craig Yonke,Tricia Young,Radonna Zehr,Amy Zwart,Jeffery

photo by Marsha Olsen Phil Battin and Maria Smith combine studying and socializing Social Butterflies Invade Library When Cedarville's founding fathers chose this cornfield as our home, they obviously had one thing on their minds:"Make those kids study!" To fill the purpose of the founders, students often develop interesting study habits in order to study without being overcome by sheer boredom. The worst habit a student can develop here at Cedarville is studying in the the library. The Centennial Library by day houses the students who need to do some last minute cramming. At night, however, the library transforms into one of the hottest social spots on campus. A few students go to the library to study, but the majority go for a combination of developing their minds and their social lives. Those who intend to go to study usually get caught up in the excitement ofseeing friends they have not seen since dinner and end up chatting the evening away. Despite this, it is not totally impossible to study in the library----if you get there early enough to reserve a study carrel in the back corner. "Make those kids study!" They put us in a cornfield; they built a beautiful library — neither of which can make us study. — Amy Edwards Kinley, Seth Klanduch,Frank Kohlmeyer,Tim Kolb,Bret Kopas, Bill Krygsman,Wilhelmina Krull, Robbin Lam,David Lauener, Matthew Leadbeater, Holly Leindecker,Lynn Libby,Jennifer Lightner, Tom ; Linder, Lori Lombardo,Sheryl Longo,Tina Lucas, Matthew Ludington,Daneil Lyon,Kirk Malone,David Mann,Chandra Martinez, Melanie Mascari, Tonya Matlack, Brad Maust, Audrey t Maxwell,Renee a McCallister,Jim 1 McCutcheon,John McDonald,Amy McDonald,Tricia McElroy,James McGinnis,Steven McGovern,Lara NcNeal, Kezia Measley, Mike Menendez, Anthony Meyer,Ben Miller, Andrea Miller, Charlene Miller, Victoria Miller, Karen Miller, Mark Miller, Ron

• - •'0,. , The Morning Rush photo by Jesse Wesselink No time for posing as these students rush to their 8 o'clock classes. Snooze alarms and 8 a.m. classes combine to form something Cedarville would otherwise lack---rush hour. The Ville's rush hour does notinclude cars stopping in bumper-to-bumper traffic but students rushing to make it on time to the 8 o'clock. Atsome point in our college career we learned that it is O.K. to be late for an 8 a.m. class; however, we still insist on rushing.Professors understand thatsome of us sleep so soundly that we subconsciously continue to hit the snooze alarm until 7:45 a.m.,causing a 1-2 minute tardiness to their classes. They also understand that students have difficulty getting up and ready with such a class as Old Testament Survey as the only motivation. But these are not the only causes of "The Morning Rush." Leaving the room at 7:58 a.m. to run to class also causes congested sidewalks and roads (if driving). The 8 a.m. class is definitely a college necessity. We have to learn to get up that early atsome pointin our lives,so why not do it while we are young and full of energy---and won't get fired for being late. — Amy Edwards Trimble, Kim Vibbert, Karen VanMatre,Edina Vibbert, Karen Waddell,Snadra Wafford, Greg Wakefield, Mike Walborn,Tim Wallace, Melinda Walling,Jennifer Watson,Keith Weber,David Weber,Paula Webster, Theresa Welch,Aaron Wesselink, Jesse Whalen,Amy White,Kim White, Matt

Wright Relishes Ro alt What do the Yellow Jacket soccer team's win over Ohio Dominican 6 — 0 and Lori Wright have in common? They both represent Homecoming 1990! Lori Wright was crowned Homecoming Queen on Saturday, October 13, at the Royalty Banquet. A nursing major from Columbus, Ohio, Lori's first priority upon graduation is her marriage on June 8 to Larry Nocella. She plans to stay in the Columbus area where she hopes to obtain a position with Riverside Hospital in the critical care unit. Lori chose Cedarville not only for its outstanding nursing program but also for its strong integration of biblical principles within the program itself. The goals of Cedarville facilitated Lori's choice when she desired high standards and a balance of Christianity and quality. When asked what she would miss about Cedarville, Lori's immediate response was"Chapel." She believed that chapel was a common bond between the students. Growth is a major part of Cedarville College, and Lori has grown the mostthrough her friends with whom she was brought into contact. — Meredith Clements A royal "line-up" at the Homecoming Royalty Banquet.
