Photo by Marsha Olsen Red, White and Blue Celebration Balloons,candy,floats, fire engines, horses, bands,and polished cars caused students,alumni, and children to gather along Main Streetfor the college Homecoming parade. Nearing the end ofanother election year, the parade theme was "Red, White, and Blue." The floats were primarily ofa patriotic nature. Organizatiorts and classes recognized variousgroupsof Americansfromthosewho served in the Armed Forces to those who lived in the fictional town of Mayberry. The parade Student Life caused spectators both to laughand to reflecton the blessings our nation and our college have eryoyed. Since it is an election year,theparadecould not end without an appearance by the Presidential candidates -- not George BushandBill Clinton, but rather Charles Clevenger andJonPurple,thecandidates for President of CedarWhat?Withtheirappearance, the parade theme seemed to make a suddenchange.It wasno longer "Red, White, and Blue" but "Green and Purple!" •Marsha Olsen HONOR GUARD -- the only "serious element in the parade.
