UD Flyers vs. Cedarville

U.D. Soccer ... 1983 Outlook The fourth year under Coach Butcher promises to be the best Flyer soccer effort yet After two seasons of struggling to reach the .500 mark, the 82 Flyers had an impressive 10-7-0 campaign. This included a post season rating of 9th in the Division I Great Lakes Region. Coach Butcher attributes much of last year's success and this year's optimism to the efforts of assistant coach Andy Krahling. The two have a great working relationship and, according to Butcher, "positive motivation in practice has paid dividends in games." The 1983 Flyers have 14 lettermen returning plus the best freshman class ever recruited by Butcher. The team will again play all home games at Welcome Stadium. Appearing on the schedule are defending HCAA Division I champions Indiana, Akron, number 1 in Ohio last year, Ohio State, DePaul and local rival Wright State University. Also on the schedule is the University of Evansville, ranked number 2 in the Great Lakes last year. Despite playing one of the toughest schedules in the Great Lakes Region, the 83 Flyers have the potential to be the best Flyer soccer team ever.
