Faulkner Ron Bishop Baptist 1946 On July 3rd, 1946, Highland Park Baptist Church of Chattanooga, TN, voted to sponsor the organization of a Junior College and Bi­ ble School. Church buildings were opened for the new college. From the outset the founders stated the school would be evangelistic, mis­ sionary, and premilleni^l. Temple would be a Baptist school in belief and practice. Less than 2 years later, . January 1948, the seminary division began for students wishing to continue their studies beyond the junior college level. Then an undergraduate division of the college was opened in September, 1950. In 1975 a Graduate program was offered with a degree in Christian education. Temple re­ ceived University status in September, 1979. 10
