Location: Enrollment: Colors: Region: President: Athletic Director: Denomination: Founded: Rochester, NY 680 Red/White East Dr. William Crothers Ken Sisson Free Methodist 1866 Evangelical Methodist minister Benjamin Titus Roberts, in 1866, started a seminary which would evolve into present day Roberts Wesleyan College. Originally known as Chili Seminary, in 1885 the school was renamed A. M. Chesbrough Seminary. It was not until 1921 that junior college courses were offered and in 1945 the name was again changed this time to Roberts Col­ lege. Finally, in 1949 the school, for the last time, changed names to Roberts Wesleyan Co­ llege when the New York State Board of Re­ gents issued a charter to grant baccalaure­ ate degrees. Education in a liberal arts tradition and meeting the needs of the entire person are focal points to the college’s philosophy. 20
