2005 Cedarville vs. Ohio Dominican Program

Teresa Clark.is in her 10th year and final sea– son as head coach of the Lady Jacket volley– ball program. At the beginning of this season, she officially announced her plan of retiring after the 2005 campaign. She plans to contin– ue her teaching duties at the University. Teresa has guided Cedarville to 311 victories for an average of 31.1 wins per season, one NAIA National Tournament appearance, and seven NCCAA National Tournament appearances. Clark has never had a losing sea– son at CU and her .713 career win– ning percentage is the best in the school's 42-year volleyball history. More importantly, her student-ath– letes have developed a reputation for excellence both· on and off the court. She has coached multiple Players of the Year, All– Americans, all-region, and all-conference players. The 2004 unit was presented the NAIA National Tournament Team Sportsmanship Award; two of her players have earned the NCCAA's Susan R. Hellings Award that recognizes an excellent volleyball student-athlete, who demonstrates leadership ability and has a clear Christian testimony; and she has coached 10 All– America Scholar-Athletes. As far as volleyball accomplishments go, Clark's 2004 squad established itself as the program's best-ever. The Lady Jackets rolled to a 44-10 overall record, a perfect 16-0 mark in the American Mideast Conference South Division, won their first NAIA Region IX championship which carried with it CU's first-ever NAIA national championship appearance, and they claimed their second AMC title. Clark was voted the NAIA Region IX and AMC South Division Coach of the Year, and the Jackets also advanced to the semifinals of the NCCAA National Tournament. In 1998, Clark was voted the AMC Coach of the Year upon pac– ing the spikers to a 32-12 overall record and a share of the AMC title with a 14-2 league mark. She was also tabbed NCCAA Midwest Region Coach of the Year after the Lady Jackets copped the regional banner and earned a berth in the NCCAA National Tournament.. Clark's first team in 1996 jumped out to a best-ever 16-1 start en route to a 31-15 record. The Jackets eventually garnered berths in the NCCAA Nationals and Mid-Ohio Conference Tournament. Prior to coming to Cedarville, Clark spent seven years as girls volleyball coach at Blackhawk Christian High School in Fort Wayne, IN. Clark led Blackhawk to 78 victories and her last two teams were particularly impressive with a combined 35-11 record. Her 1994 club was 16-6 and finished as Sectional Runner-Up to Snider High School, a perennial power in Indiana high school vol– leyball. Blackhawk advanced to the Sectional semifinals in 1995 and finished with a 19-5 mark. Three of her high school players moved on to play for her at CU. Clark, who is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Exercise and Sport Science, is a 1975 graduate of Cedarville College and earned a master's degree from Indiana University in 1986. She has been a leader among her volleyball peers as a for– mer NCCAA national chair and American Mideast Conference chair. Teresa and her husband, Jim, who is one of her assistant coaches and the school's assistant sports information director, reside in Cedarville. The Clarks have two married children: a daughter, Mrs. Carla Pittman, is a 2000 graduate of Cedarville College and resides in San Diego, CA with her husband, Scott; and a son, Jonathan, who is a 2003 graduate of Cedarville University and resides in Hilliard, OH with his wife, Amie.
