PAUL, MN For the second straight season , the Cedarville University (Oh io) Yellow Jackets entered the National Christian Co llege Athletic Association (NCCAA) national championshi p tournament as the top seed and left the pos -season event as the top seed. Rachel Thompson had 42 assists for the Yellow Jackets versus the Sailfish, wh ile Libby Short was outstanding defensively, leading her team with 25 digs. For Palm Beach Atlantic, Ali Mitchell (West Palm Beach , Fla.) and Bia Santos (Sao Paulo, Brazil ) wrapped up the ir season with 11 kills apiece, followed by nine from Chrissy Gulden. Whitney Warren, a senior stronghold for the Sailfish defense, finished her career lead ing all players with 27 digs. Cedarville's undefeated streak at the tournament started with a three-game sweep over Faulkner Un iversity, followed by a 3-1 win over Hope International Un iversity. Day 2 was almost identical for the Yellow Jackets, as t he beat Oakland City University 3-0 before taking fou rth– seeded Bethel College in four games. The Jackets' toughest match came at the hands of second-seeded Mount Vernon Nazarene Un iversity, who made a strong push before losing to Cedarville 3-1. Before their only blemish aga inst Cedar ille, Palm Beach Atlantic was equally impressi e in the three-da event, losing only one game apiece to Faulkner and Mount Vernon Nazarene before s eeping their pool pla schedu le. The Sai lfish took do n Hope International in the semifinal round before ultimate! losing to Cedar 111 in th title match.
