Wharton, President Briar Cliff University To all fans and participants of the 2009 NAIA Division II Women's Basketball Tournament: On behalf of my fellow City Council Members, as well as all of the citizens of Sioux City, I would like to welcome each of you to what we consider the most exciting week of college basketball anywhere. Sioux City is proud and happy to be the host of NAIA Women's basketball for the 12th straight year. I extend a special welcome to those of you that are visiting from out of town. While in Sioux City, I hope you will take the opportunity to visit our shops and restaurants throughout the city and experience our historical attractions and sites. Please visit our downtown, including our renowned Art Center and Orpheum Theatre, our Historic 4th Street district, and our unique riverfront including the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center - attractions which we are sure you will enjoy. I commend and congratulate the coaches and athletes here this week. You have worked hard to reach this level of success and should take great pride in your accomplishments.
