E463: CHALK ILLUSTRATION. Analyzing and illustrating hymns, and the use of colored chalk in the drawing of picture which depict gospel truth. Evening School: one hour, one term, fourth year. 163: ORIENTATION. This course is designed to increase the student's ability and efficiency. The aim, processes and mechanics of studying are considered and some time is given to personal difficulties. Methods of library research and use of reference helps are also considered. This subject also includes the Chapter Summary method of Bible Study. Students are re– quired to prepare and bring to class the principal theme, central truth, spiritual value, key verse, etc., of the chapter studied. Day School: one hour, first semester, first year. VII. DEPARTMENT OF LANGUAGES (070) The Christian worker must have a practical and versatile know– ledge of the English language if he is \to present ably and effec– tively the Gospel of Christ. Emphasis is placed upon correctness of grammar, sentence structure, spelling, punctuation, diction, written composition and oral expression. El 71: REMEDIAL ENGLISH. This course is especially de– signed for those who are deficient in using the English language. Students who do not pass the entrance examination in English are required to take this course. E,vening School: one hour, one term, first year. 171: ENGLISH GRAMMAR. An advanced course (compar– able to a college course) with a thorough review of grammar and special emphasis upon rules and usage. Day School: two hours, first semester, first year. 272: ENGLISH RHETORIC. Students are trained in the correct and effective use of English. Themes, letters, tracts, articles for publication, etc., are written by the students and dis– cussed in class. The text used is "Learning to Write in College" by Reed Smith.
