2. Bible Book Study The authorship, date, position in the Canon, and divisions of the theme are noted. Each book receives synoptical treatment with the most important portions studied in detail. Books from Esther through Revelation are considered, except those studied under Bible History and Bible Analysis. 201, ~02. OLD TESTAMENT POETRY. The distinctive character– istics of Hebrew Poetry are examined; the various forms being il– lustrated and explained. The Poetical books are studied for their doc– trinal and practical value. The Book of Psalms is treated in detail with special attention being given the Messianic Psalms. First semester in Day School, the following books are studied: Job, Psalms, and the historical book of Esther. The second semester in Day School, Pro,·erbs, Ecclesiastes, and Song of Solomon are studied. Four hours, first semester, second year. 203, 204. O.T. PROPHETIC BOOKS. The major prophetic books of the Old Testament, except Daniel (see Bible Annl.1Jsis), are studied in chronological order. The great prophetic themes of these books are examined both in their fulfilled and unfulfilled aspects. The minor prophetic books of the Old Testament are ca refully ex– amined for their important message in both near and far fulfillment. The aim of this course is to acquaint the student with the facts of history and prophecy in such a manner as to cause these little-known books to live in his experiences. Four hours, first semester, third year. 211, 212. NEW TESTAMENT EPISTLES (Omitting those studied under Bible Analysis ) . An introductory study of the epistles giving the date and place of writing, author, occasion, purpose, theme and a synopsis of the message _of each epistle. Four hours, second semester, second y ear. 3. Bible Analysis Analysis is a critical and careful study of the authorship, cir– cumstances, theme, chapters, verses, sentences and words of H oly \ rrit. These courses are designed to lead the student into hnbits of study which will enable him to understand the minute exactness and depth of the meaning of God's Word. 121. THE EPISTLE TO THE ROMA , S. This trcmendonsly important book of basic Christian doctrin and practice is expound d in detail. The aim is to ground the student so H1oroup:hl~· in the e vital teachings that he will never be slrnken and always be ready to state th truth of the Gospel with accuracy and clarity.
