DEPARTMENT OF BIBLICAL INTRODUCTION AND APOLOGETICS The aim of this department is to enable the student to become established in the evidences of the divine inspiration, accuracy and integrity of the sacred Scriptllrcs and in the assurance of God 's guid– ance in the selection of the ixty-six books which comprise the Canon. There is an examination of the hi s torical , geographical and archaeo– logical facts regarding the Bible and investigation of textual criticism and Christian evidences. 101. BIBLICAL INTRODUCTION. Hermeneutics, Inspiration, Canon, Manuscripts, and Versions. The structural, thematic, ethnic and dispensational divisions of the Scriptures are studied and divine laws of Hermeneutics pointed out. The theories of Inspiration, the proofs of Divine Authorship, the Verbal and Plenary Inspiration of the Sacred Scriptures are carefully studied. The inspiration which the Bible claims for itself and the conclusive witness of the Highest Critic, Christ Him– self, are studied in detail so that the student becomes thoronp-hly grounded on the true foundation of our faith. Why our Bible contains its present books-no more and no less, and how we may be fully as– sured that our present copies of God's Word are accurate and trust– worthy are discerned in this course. Three hours, first semest er, first year. 231. CHRISTIA:N EVIDE~CES. Includes Archaeoloµ-y and Ful– fill ed Prophecy. An accumulation of testimony, facts and proofs of Christianity 's supernatural origin. The many erroneous beliefs of in– fidelitv are examined and their irrational character revealed. Ancient civiliz~tions, now unearthed, provide remarkable confirmation of the Bible's hi sto ri city and throw light on its backg-rotmd and interpretation. An examination of the prophecies of the ·word of God which have been literally folfi!l c<l are convincing evidence of the integrity and infalli– bility of the Rible. Civilizations long dead provide a wealth of information which not only confirms the historical accuracy of the Bible but also aids in its interpretation.
