WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM CEDARVILLE’S MAT Biblical – With biblical integration in every course, you will discover how to serve your clients with the mind of Christ. Accredited – Cedarville’s current Athletic Training program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE). State-of-the-Art Facilities – Program is housed in a brand-new second-story addition to the Callan Athletic Center, which includes classrooms and student collaboration spaces. It also utilizes Cedarville’s 3,000-square-foot athletic training facility with a devoted educational laboratory. Mentoring Faculty – Christian faculty members who are highly credentialed practicing clinicians and will teach, advise, and care about your success. Interprofessional Collaboration – You will benefit from interprofessional interaction with students and faculty from Cedarville’s well-established and well-regarded healthcare programs, such as nursing, pharmacy, and our PA program. You will be trained in procedures from professors from other disciplines, including wound care, suturing, pharmacology, and general medical procedures. Clinical Experiences – During your coursework, you will complete clinical experiences with Cedarville Yellow Jackets NCAA Division II athletic teams and with high school, collegiate, and professional teams as well as medical facilities under the direction of a preceptor. OUTCOMES: WHERE CAN YOU WORK AS AN ATHLETIC TRAINER? Athletic Trainers are found in a variety of places beyond the traditional high school, college, and professional sports teams. You will also be qualified to work in the following: ƒ Physician practices (orthopedic, pediatric, geriatric, family medicine) ƒ Dance medicine ƒ Industrial medicine ƒ Health clinics ƒ Hospitals ACCELERATED BS TO MAT OPTION Cedarville University also offers a BS in sport medicine/MAT accelerated completion option, allowing you to complete both degrees in just five years. As an incoming undergraduate student, you can choose to begin Cedarville’s BS in sport medicine program and move into the Master of Athletic Training portion of the degree after three years. We have strategically designed the BS in sport medicine curriculum so the senior year is taken as part of the first year of the MAT program. When you are admitted into the MAT program, you are able to complete a BS in sport medicine, Cedarville’s Bible minor, and a Master of Athletic Training degree in five years.
