Mahala Hess Class of 2027, Nursing The dining hall has served my friends and me as a place of meaningful fellowship filled with Christcentered conversations and great food options. As a nursing student, I often rely on to-go meals between long classes and clinicals. The new to-go features will make it much easier to enjoy nutritious, satisfying meals even on my busiest days. Abraham Van Kleeck Service Manager, Pioneer Food Services Food has always been a powerful way to build community, and I’m excited that these improvements will make our dining space an even better place for students to connect, share meals, and feel at home. The addition of a dedicated allergen-friendly station especially will create a clear, separate workflow for preparing dietary-specific meals. I hope this space helps students with special diets feel seen, supported, and included in our dining community. Jules Robison Class of 2026, Social Work Cedarville’s dining hall renovation will provide students like me with better options that work with a busy schedule. Changes like the allergenaware kitchen and The Commons Express will give my friends and I the ability to eat with a lot more flexibility. Financial Transparency The Commons project included casework, tiling, flooring, and painting for the whole facility. We added a new allergen-aware station, pizza oven, convenience-style marketplace with walk-in freezer, and other operational equipment. In total, $244,412 from the 1000 Days Fund went toward the dining hall renovation. Take It From Monte: Allergen-Aware Station By creating a separate space with its own cooking equipment, we are drastically reducing the risk of cross-contamination and improving the dining experience for students with dietary restrictions. The Commons Market The Commons Market will offer items such as candy, chips, soda, and microwaveable meals for students to purchase with flex dollars, cash, or credit. Pizza Station A new pizza station will add a “wow” factor to The Commons as students enter. The station will be used for made-to-order pizzas, by-the-slice options, and after-hours offerings with different crusts and sauces. Monte Veach serves Cedarville as the Food Service Director through Pioneer Food Services. “ ” 11
