WHAT IS THE FORENSICS TEAM? Forensics is the term for the competitive activity that is more commonly known as speech and debate. Cedarville’s forensic team travels to college and university campuses all over the country to compete in public speaking and debate competitions. You can participate in both speech and debate or focus on just one. These competitions, and the preparation that goes into them, provide you with opportunities to learn effective communication, research, writing, argumentation, speaking, and performance skills. Forensics allows you to creatively and intelligently express your values and advocate for topics in our culture that are important to you. SPEECH There are over a dozen different public speaking events in which you can compete. They include persuasive speaking, rhetorical criticism, informative speaking, after dinner speaking, poetry, drama, prose, programmed interpretation, extemporaneous speaking, and impromptu speaking. You will work with the coach to choose a topic or literature and prepare your presentation and practice the performance.
