THE WAY OF WISDOM IN A WORLD OF CHOICES The following is an excerpt from a March 19, 2026, chapel presentation from Dr. Trevin Wax. Listen to his full message at cedarville.edu/WaxMarch2026. WATCH CHAPEL VIA LIVESTREAM AT 10 A.M. EACH WEEKDAY DURING THE ACADEMIC YEAR This morning, we're going to be in Proverbs 4:10– 19. How can I know that I'm not stepping outside of God's will? First, pursue wisdom before you pursue answers. Remember that wisdom is a map, not a GPS. You’re not blazing your own path. Instead, you look up to God and realize discernment grows in community, not in isolation. What if I make the wrong decision? God's providence is bigger than your choices. He can reroute you. The way of wisdom means you seek to orient your life around love of God and love of others, stewarding your life for a purpose higher than your own satisfaction. You go after the good and trust God with the results. Second, stay off sin's path before it steers your steps. Listen, wickedness grows step by step, just like wisdom does. You step on a particular path and make choices until they just become second nature. You think you're in control, but that path is now directing you. Third, walk the path that brightens, not the path that blinds. The path of wisdom is brightening because righteousness shines. You see reality more clearly. Sometimes, the brighter the path, the more you see your own flaws, failures, and sins. But wisdom will also show you the glory of Christ's love for you. That's real, too. And as you walk the bright path, you’re growing in holiness far more than you realize. We are confirming ourselves in a direction toward either the light or the darkness. Walk a path of wisdom shaped by Jesus, the One who makes all things new. Follow in His footsteps. Take the next wise step. And as you walk, my prayer is that His light will rise around you until the shadows fall behind you and only His glory remains before you.
