Cedarville Magazine Summer 2026

YOUR TURN! AI IDEAS AND PROMPTS FROM CEDARVILLE FACULTY AND STAFF This past year has been full of experimentation for Cedarville’s faculty and staff — and not all of it was in the office! From flower arrangement to mechanical help, Cedarville personnel have found plenty of ways for AI to come in handy at home. Give some of the suggestions below a try — we hope you find your new favorite AI use case here! JENNY CZERNIAK Associate Director of Career Services My husband and I flew to Utah to visit our son at his internship. AI mapped out the most efficient sightseeing routes, suggested hidden gems, and planned our days. We explored Utah like seasoned adventurers instead of confused tourists and made incredible memories along the way. PROMPT: “We are vacationing in the Salt Lake City area and would like a list of must-see hiking trails that we can complete on day trips. We are in our early 50s and in good shape but probably shouldn't do any super strenuous climbs. Please give us directions and provide the most scenic routes and fun places to eat along the way.” KELLY GOLLIHUE Social Media Strategist My sister has a restrictive diet due to chronic health issues. After the birth of my niece, I used AI to generate recipes for meals that I could freeze and give to my sister. AI gave me a list of recipes that fit my parameters and created a grocery list so I could purchase all the ingredients in one pickup order. PROMPT: Generate five recipes for [insert food restrictions] crock pot meals ideal for postpartum recovery that can be prepped and frozen ahead of time. The meals must serve at least four people and require no additional prep after being frozen. Also include a combined grocery list for all the meals. JESSICA SEITER Postal Production Supervisor This semester, I fed my students’ work availability and my schedule criteria to AI and had it write my students’ work schedules. We’ve used the schedule it created with no hiccups, and it saved me a ton of time! PROMPT: “Use this spreadsheet to create a schedule for me. Do not have anyone working over 15 hours a week. Create consecutive shifts, if available, and do not schedule more than two students per hour.” CHAD JACKSON Associate Vice President for Creative Services I like to do basic car repairs when I can, but sometimes the cause of an issue can be difficult to diagnose. If I hear a strange noise or something stops working, I describe what is happening to AI, and it tells me what the problem might be. PROMPT: “The sliding door on our 2015 Town & Country makes a clicking, grinding noise at the very end of the closing process. When some kind of motor activates to latch the door shut, it clicks and struggles to pull the door tight at the very end of the motion. What part is most likely broken? How do I fix it?” DIANA PERKEY Senior Director of Advancement and Alumni Engagement I used AI to design custom floral centerpieces using our exact color, size, and look preferences. PROMPT: “Create a floral arrangement in a four-inch square glass container using yellows, white, and a touch of blue.” BETWEEN THE LINES 46 INTERACTIVE EXTRAS AND ACTIVITIES INSPIRED BY THE ISSUE
