New Teaching Pharmacy Serves Community, Trains Students Cedar Care Village Pharmacy opened for business this spring in the village of Cedarville with a ribbon-cutting and grand opening celebration. The celebration included Ohio’s First Lady, Fran DeWine, who read a proclamation from the office of Ohio Governor Mike DeWine, her husband, welcoming Cedar Care to the village of Cedarville. Cedarville’s President, Thomas White, also spoke, as did Tony Pergram, Mayor of Cedarville, and Jeb Ballentine, Director of Pharmacy Services at Cedar Care Village Pharmacy. Housed in the former Cedarville Hardware store located at the corner of U.S. 42 and U.S. 72 at the center of town, the pharmacy will serve the needs of the community, faculty, staff, and students while also training future pharmacists enrolled in Cedarville’s School of Pharmacy. The new teaching pharmacy is only the second such facility in the state of Ohio. Cedar Care, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Cedarville University, purchased the historic hardware store in downtown Cedarville in early 2018, following the unexpected death of the store’s owner, Glenn Fawcett ’77. Renovation and remodeling began in earnest last fall and finished in January. Cedar Care is a full-service pharmacy offering prescription services, refills and transfers, over-the-counter products, Cedarville University and Cedarville Indians spirit wear, flu shots, multi-dose pill packaging, medication therapy management, and free delivery within Cedarville. “The new Cedar Care Village Pharmacy will focus on the needs of our community, while also benefiting the pharmacy students at the University,” said Marc Sweeney, President of the Board of Directors for Cedar Care, LLC, and Dean of the Cedarville University School of Pharmacy. “This will be a teaching pharmacy as well as a ministry to the village of Cedarville.” South Texas Photography Tommy Ansiel ’ 21 is a national champion after winning the pole vault at the 2019 NCAA Division II Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Championship. The sophomore from Warrenville, Illinois, cleared a school-record 17 feet 7.25-inches (5.37 meters) on May 23.
