The Cedarville Review 2025

71 Celestial Waltz by Sophia J. Camillone CONTRIBUTOR’S NOTE: This poem is a reflection of humanity’s rebellion against God and inclination toward temptation. I address planet Earth as a willful, out-of-control child that is attempting to ignore its Creator. Though the planet longs for autonomy and its own selfish desires, Earth’s rebellion will lead to its own destruction and God’s sovereign judgment. Spinning Around, you are Swinging about as a Child on the tiles of a Gigantic hall. Unhindered by Love, you so dizzily slant, and you Drag souls along on your perilous route down the Cosmos’s corridor, chasing yourself ‘round the Fire of all Fires, a devilish flirt—and you’re whirling and tugging and Swerving and yanking to prove to yourself and your God that you’ll Waltz without Him, that you’ll dance to destruction not caring at All.
