Despite the risks, using color as a tool can and provide avenues for creativity and innovation as well as better usability and understanding. Technical communicators are information specialists, constantly looking for ways to better convey meaning to their users. It is unfortunate then that they are reluctant to use a powerful but subtle tool that is readily available at their fingertips.
