LITERATURE ON OVERSEAS STUDENT TEACHING Ference & Bell (2004) describe a short-term cross-cultural situation where non-Spanish speaking university education students lived with Latino families in the U.S. to learn methods and strategies for coping with non-English speaking students in the classroom. Willard-Holt (2001) describes a six-day overseas experience for education students which resulted in a broadened concept of cultural diversity. Yang (2011) calls for more overseas, international, cross-cultural experiences for ESOL student teachers noting opportunities for personal growth and growth of cultural sensitivity.
