The grain growth highly took place due to the shear heating in the surrounding rock of sinking slab. In contrast, the grain size inside of slab was highly reduced (down to 5 µm from the initial grain size 100 µm) due to the dynamic recrystallization. Since the sinking slab was deformed under relatively cold temperature, the grain refinement was dominated.
