Jerry and Katherine Rodgers have joined Cedarville's music faculty under a shared appointment. Mrs. Rodgers instructs strings while Jerry teaches woodwinds. The Rodgers came to Cedarville from Orlando,Florida, where Jerry played at Walt Disney World and Katherine taught vocal and instrumental courses at Calvary Christian School. From 1967 to 1988 Mr.Rodgers was a member ofthe White House'United States Marine Band and for two decades performed for presidents Johnson,Nixon,Carter,Ford, Reagan,and Bush. In past years the Rodgers have performed with the Akron, Alexandria,and Cleveland symphony orchestras and will continue their performance schedules. Rodney'86 and Teresa(Smiley'85)Smith were proud to introduce Andrew Jennings to the world on June 18, 1990. Andy weighed 9 lbs.6 1/2 oz. and measured 21 in. John and Diane(Blasdell'85) Watson were pleased to announce the birth of Katherine Nicole on June 1, 1990. Her statistics were 8 lbs. 10 oz. and 21 in. John David is her brother. Robert and Nancy(Huddleston '86)Custodio were delighted with Caitlyn Nacole when she appeared on April 16, 1990, weighing 6 lbs. 15 1/2 oz. Jim '86 and Marsha Reiter happily announced the birth of a son,James Michael II, on April 5, 1990. James weighed 8 lbs. 12 oz. Rick'86 and Deb Tavierne were thrilled with the arrival of Amy Lee born on Earth Day, April 22, 1990. Amy weighed 7 lbs.8 oz. and measured 20 1/2 in. long. Chris'86 and Julia(Furiate'89)Walter are rejoicing in the birth of Briana Noel, born on November 14, 1989. She weighed 7 lbs. 1 oz. and measured 19 3/4 in. Matthew '87 and Roberta Creamer were blessed by the birth of a daughter, Rachel Marie,8 lbs. Tim '87 and Amy(Phillips'85)Schakatjoyfully announced the birth of Jacob Timothy on September 12, 1989. Jacob weighed 7 lbs. 7oz. and was 21 in. long. Mark'88 and Denise Groves are delighted with the birth of Kayla Lyn born on April 30, 1990. Her stats are 7 lbs. and 18 1/4 in. Gary and Grace(Young'88)Slaughenhaupt welcomed Clinton Allen on March 28, 1990. His recorded weight was 6lbs. 10 oz. Scott'88 and Theresa Sorenson welcomed Blessing Noel on July 1, 1990. The baby weighed 7 lbs. 11 oz. and was 19 in. long. John 5 was on the welcoming committee. Focus on the Field Sue Farley '71 has decided to delay her furlough to the United States for one year. There is a furlough crunch at China Baptist Theological College,and a new church planting project is getting underway at Heritage Baptist Church in Mei Foo, Kowloon,Hong Kong. Paul Beck'76 and his wife, Becky,are serving the Lord in the Philippines. He is a teacher at Faith Academy. The couple has five children, Abigail, Peter,Corrie, Amanda,and Jonathan, who was born in July 1988. Kirk Wesselink '84 in Albuquerque, New Mexico,asks prayer for wisdom as he examines options open to him and his wife, Joyce(Pycraft '85). They were serving under Baptist Mission of North America(formerly Fellowship of Baptists for Home Missions), which has been dissolved. Abbe Road Baptist Church in Elyria is presently administering their account and ministry in New Mexico. Deaths Edward Hennesey '88 died suddenly on June 6, 1990,of an apparent heart attack. A pastoral intern at First Baptist Church in Goodells, Michigan,Ed was 27 at the time of his death. He is survived by his wife, Nadine(Terrell'87).
