Imagine you are a Cedarville student working on an assignment in your dorm room late at night. Using the network computer in your room, you may access the library card catalog, send a message to a classmate or professor via electronic mail, view previously recorded class presentations or assigned materials, and access a variety of network software packages. Lawlor and Printy dormitories will be on the network fall quarter and other dorms will follow. Students will also be able to use public labs for the same access. Dr. Marvin Royse'62 has been appointed President of the American Bible College in Pineland, Florida. The American Bible College was the first college accepted by the State Board of Independent Colleges and Universities of Florida and has the oldest Christian correspondence program in the United States. Dr. Royse and his wife, Kathy, reside in Matlacha, Florida where he is the pastor of First Baptist Church of Matlacha. Illirrnr 50s Harold Carpenter '52 and his wife, Ruby,were honored on May 17,1992 at a reception celebrating their 65th wedding anniversary. The First Baptist Church of Edinboro, Pennsylvania hosted the reception for Rev. Carpenter, who was their former visitation pastor after his retirementfrom the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad.The Carpenters have two sons and five grandsons.They have lived in Edinboro since 1971. Leigh Hunt'54 and his wife,Helen,celebrated 40 years of marriage on June 28,1992. Leigh is the director of physical plant at Cedarville College and Helen is a secretary on campus. The Hunts have five children and 11 grandchildren. 60s Dr. Maryalyce Jeremiah'65 has been appointed associate director of athletics/senior woman administrator at California State University Fullerton. Prior to her new appointment,Dr. Jeremiah was the CSUF women's basketball coach for seven years compiling a record of 112-93. Her new responsibilities will include overseeing athletic department compliance and academics as well as supervising 12 men's and women's sports,the athletic training room,and the department's substance abuse education program. Dr.Martin Hartzell'67 was named outstanding teacher for 1991-92 at Bryan College in Dayton,Tennessee. Dr. Hartzell,a professor of biology at Bryan,was cited for his commitment and concern for students. He was selected by students,alumni,faculty,and staff. Other honors given to Dr. Hartzell include the Sears Roebuck Foundation Grant. Ronald'67 and Sharon Cearfoss Yeater'69 were honored by their children on August 22, 1992 as they celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary. A reception was held at Camp Gilead in Polk City,Florida where the Yeaters live. 70s Lin Mason Johnson'71 is beginning her sixth year as conference coordinator ofthe Moody Write-To-Publish Conference.A freelance professional writer,Lin recently signed a contract for her 22nd book.A book she co- edited for Moody Press,Christian Education: Foundationsfor the Future, won the 1992 Gold Medallion Book award in Christian education. Lin lives in Niles,Illinois where she volunteers as head ofthe educational ministries at Olive Tree Congregation. Wayne Aldridge'75 is a project manager for Geo-Con,Inc. in Denton,Texas. Geo-Con is a geotechnical construction company which specializes in hazardous waste site remediation.He authored a paper entitled In Situ Mixing ofDry and Slurred Reagents in Soiland Sludge Using Shallow Soil Mixing which was presented in June at the 85th annual meeting ofthe Air and Waste Management Association in Kansas City, Kansas. Wayne's wife,Darlene(Jones'75) has completed 15 years in Christian education. She teaches second grade at Temple Christian Academy in Lewisville, Texas where their children Jared, 14,Philip, 11,and Adrienne,9,attend school.They are all active members ofTemple Baptist Church. Carole Green Keesler'18 has been named to Who's Who Among America's Teachersfor 1992.Carole teaches seventh grade at Parker Elementary School in Piketon,Ohio. Carol Lancaster'78 graduated on May 30, 1992from California State University at Fullerton with a master ofscience degree in education. Carol received an outstanding scholarship award from CSUF's education departmentfor graduating with a 4.0 grade point average. SOS Paul Van Natta'81 was awarded Educator of the Year by the Rice Lake Jaycees in Rice Lake,Wisconson.Paul is a learning disabilities teacher at Hilltop Elementary and was nominated by his peers for his dedicated service and the impact he has made on the Rice Lake community. Jennifer Raught Brock'83 completed a master of arts degree in English at the University of Rochester in Rochester,New York in May 1991. She is employed as a public information and media relations specialist at Penn State's Worthington Scranton campus in Dunmore,Pennsylvania. She and her husband,David,live in Clarks Summit,Pennsylvania. John Coules'83 has been called as the senior pastor at Sanford Avenue Baptist Church in Alton,Illinois. He and his wife,Robin (Strope'83),have two children,John,3,and Tiara,4months.The Coules family visited Cedarville this summer to share the news! Kevin Carder'84 graduated from Seton Hall Law School in Newark,New Jersey. He has been with Platz and Thompson law firm in Maine for one year. Shawn Huck'84 has been called to Maranatha Baptist Church in Columbus,Ohio as minister of youth and outreach. After receiving his master of biblical studies from Northwest Baptist Seminary,Shawn was the associate pastor of Harbor Community Baptist Church in Tacoma,Washington.He was also the chaplain for the Tacoma Tigers professional baseball team.He and his wife, Kristy have three daughters,Lindsay,Cara, and Marcy. 9Fall'92 Dr.Kurt Wilcox'84 is transferring from Indianapolis,Indiana to Kansas City, Missouri with his employer Marion Merrell Dow,Inc. He has been an associate scientist with the pharmaceutical company for three years.He and his wife,Faye(Horton '82),are very excited about this new opportunity. Julia Gregory Miller'89 is a configuration management analyst in the Space Systems Division ofRockwell International in Reston, Virginia.The Reston location is the headquarters for the development ofSpace Station Freedom,under the direction of NASA. 90s Seth Kinley'92,a physical education/athletic training graduate,is the new athletic trainer at Bryan College in Dayton,Tennessee. Lori Lindner'92 will be an instructor at Faith Academy in Manila,the Philippines this fall. She will teach high school English and speech classes. Lori graduated from Cedarville with a degree in communication arts. MRPIRTIIIMm De Maurice Smith'85 and Karen Padgett were united in marriage on November 9,1991 at the University of Virginia Campus Chapel in Charlottesville, Virginia. The Smiths honeymooned in Hawaii and presently live in Washington,D.C. Kathi Harris'87 and Neal Wallace'90 were married on September 7, 1991 at Hillside Chapel in Beavercreek,Ohio.Both Kathi and Neal are youth counselors for Juvenile Court Treatment Center for Greene County and live in Xenia,Ohio. Lynn Clark'88 and Tracy Cleland exchanged wedding vows on August 3,1991 at Jamestown Church of Christ in Jamestown, Ohio.Lynn is a second grade teacher for Springfield City Schools and her husband,a graduate ofKentucky Christian College,is employed with the Jamestown Church of Christ. Julie Carter'89 and David Criscuolo were wed on December 21,1991 at Bethel Baptist Church in Oskaloosa,Iowa.Julie is a homemaker,after teaching for three years. Her husband is a carpenter in Princeton,New Jersey. The Criscuolos live in Yardville,New Jersey. Penney Stackhouse'89 and Dave Miller were married on June 6,1992.Penney and her husband are both working on graduate degrees at the University ofIllinois. Stephen Averitt'90N and Barbra Upchurch '93N were united in marriage on June 27,1992 at Washington Heights Baptist Church in Dayton,Ohio.Steve has completed his third year at The Ohio State University's College of Optometry and plans to finish in the spring of 1993. Ferrol Snyder'90 and Fred Rinehart exchanged wedding vows on July 14, 1990. Ferrol teaches first grade at Xenia Christian Day School in Xenia,Ohio.The Rineharts are expecting their first child this fall. Ryan Bowen'91 and Monica James'92 joined their lives together on June 13, 1992. They reside in Mt.Clemens,Michigan.
