Finishing Touches A s contractors put the finishing touches on the Engineering/Nursing Center,the nursing,science and mathematics,and engineering departments are busily moving into the facility,in preparation for the first day ofclasses on October 1. The campaign to finance construction ofthe structure and its equipment received a great boost when The Kresge Foundation awarded the College a challenge grant of$400,000 toward the $7 million Engineering/Nursing Center.This is the third challenge grant The Kresge Foundation,one ofthe most prestigious in the country,has authorized for the College.The previous two were for the Athletic Center($200,000)and for William A.Brock Hall($350,000). Interested in spurring others to give,The Kresge Foundation will provide the final $400,000ofthe $7 million needed if the College can raise the remaining $1.5 million.To date,donors have committed over $5 million toward the project,the largest amount ever to any one project in Cedarville's history. Alumni can help meet this challenge. Gifts or commitments to give between now and 1994 are eligible to meet the requirements ofThe Kresge Foundation challenge grant. Regional Gathering Update C -`' edarville College alumni continue to get together all around America.These events of fellowship and fun usually take place in the fall or spring and bring together alumni who live in local geographical areas. Gatherings are also planned for specialized groups such as the alumni parents of Cedarville College students; student organization alumni; alumni returning to compete in soccer, basketball,and golf; and our Heritage alumni. In addition to their classes, the group enjoyed many activities, including a mid-week trip to King's Island. They took part in Bible studies and met new friends. Children of alumni are eligible for a tuition scholarship equivalent to five college credit hours. The Summer Scholars Program for 1993 begins June 14. As 60 Cincinnati/Cedarville College alumni and their families were rained out at the July 10 baseball game at Riverfront Stadium, Ron and Carol held on until the game began at 10:55 p.m. The game ended at 2:00 a.m. with the Pirates winning 3-2. Rev. Ron '70 and Margaret Muirhead Edwards'70, are also pictured (right). 7 Fall'92 Corner he Cedarville College Heritage Alumni are always on the go and this summer has been no exception. Although many are active with church functions and ladies fellowship meetings, we still find time to get together for exciting summer fun. On our May 28 trip to Ameriflora '92 in Columbus,Ohio 30 Heritage Alumni enjoyed the salute to discovery,innovation,and beautiful flowers.The outing was so successful we had to plan a second one on August 27! The Alumnae Educators met for their annual summer luncheo on July 6.The48 ladies in attendance joined in honoring Francet Bradley '30 as she retired after60 years of teaching and Josephi Randall'22 on her induction into the Fairborn Hall ofFame for Educators. A trip to Rivet-front Stadium is planned for the Heritage Alumni on September 22 when the Reds meet the Houston Astros. Homecoming promises to be a tremendous time with classmates and you will want to attend the Heritage Fellowship Luncheon planned for October 17 at 12:30 p.m. Miss Geraldine Henry '36, Mrs. Wilmet Ackerman Wilson '36. and Miss Wavaline Kelso '40 tour the Franklin Park Conservatory filled with tropical rain forests, Japanese bonsai trees, and desert scape.
