Joe Kesler '77N and his wife, Nancy, announce the birth of triplets. The boys are John William, Lloyd McUlan, and Danny Hustlaw. David '78 and Diane Vernon Burns'80N announce the birth of Zechariah Thomas on January 4, 1998. He joins Tiffany (16), Joshua (13), Caleb (7), and Justin (4)at home in Hastings, Michigan. Jeff'80 and Deborah Mullet Warix '79N announce the birth of their ninth child, Sarah Lynn, on February 13, 1998. Jeff, Deborah, and children are anticipating ministering in Utah with Baptist Mid-Missions. David Hegarty'82 and his wife, Rebecca, announce the birth of Cameron David. The Hegarty family lives in New Era, Michigan. Randy'83 and Lora Cremean Howard '83 announce the birth of Monica Marie on September 22, 1997. She joins Breanna(11)at home in Powhatan, Virginia. Randy is a sergeant for the State Capitol Police, and Lora works from her home for the International Mission Board. Diane Moats Perkins'84 and her husband, Doug, announce the birth of Alec James on April 23, 1998. A.J. joins Anna, Andrew, and Abby at home in Sagamore Hills, Ohio. Keith '85 and Lori Lee Reid Holt '88N, announce the birth of Sophia Marie on March 20, 1998. She joins Olivia at home in Omaha, Nebraska where the Halts are active in church, volunteer at Trinity Christian School, and Keith works as branch manager for Solutech Company. Jan '85 and Shelley Frank Schaedel'86 announce the birth of Kristen Lenae on December, 11, 1997. Kristen joins three sisters at home: Melissa (10), Jennifer (8), and Sarah (6). Jan is the senior pastor of First Baptist Church in Blanchester, Ohio. Chad Bresson '86, and his wife, Emily, announce the birth of their first daughter, NoeII Victoria, on April 30, 1998. Chad is the news director at CDR Radio. Tim Good '86 and his wife, Ginny, announce the birth of Anita Ruth on May 1, 1998, in Poland. She joins Matthew (5), Elizabeth (3), and Kristina (1). The Goods are serving with Word of Life in Lodz, Poland and anticipate furlough during the 1998-99 academic year. William '86 and Cheryl Spradling Marling '84 welcome to their family Ekaterina Lilia born October 26, 1996 in Bratsk, Russia. Kate joined the Marling family on July 3, 1998. Wil recently received his doctorate from Reformed Theological Seminary in Orlando, Florida. Wil and Cheryl minister at Rocky Ridge Grace Brethren Church north of Columbus, Ohio. Janis Comfort Pepper '86 and her husband, Robert, announce the birth of Matthew Caleb on September 22, 1997. He joins Brittany(6)at home in Carmel, Indiana. Larry'87 and Susan Lafferty Reeder'87 announce the birth of Zachary John on April 6, 1998. He joins Larry Jr., Leah, and Andrew at home in Hubertus, Wisconsin. Ron '87 and Pam Rickard Smith '87 announce the birth of Brandon William Glen on May 18, 1998. Brandon joins Drew(9)and Joellyn (7). The Smith family recently moved to Danville, Pennsylvania where Ron will begin his residency program in otolaryngology. Lisa Ford Johnson '88 and her husband, Mark, announce the birth of Matthew Aaron on June 17, 1998. Matthew joins Sarah (6), Drew (4), and Anna (2) at home in Twinsburg, Ohio. Sarah joins Katie(5)at home in Indianapolis, Indiana where Paul is employed with CorVel Corporation, and Laura telecommutes with Macmillan Publishing. Luke joins older siblings Kirk and Erika at home. Kirk is the assistant pastor for adult ministry at Hershey Evangelical Free Church in Pennsylvania. Jennifer Brandt Conner'90 and her husband, Jeff, announce the birth of Andrew Jeffrey on July 29, 1996. The Conners make their home in Findlay, Ohio. Steve Lesko'90 and his wife, Melanie, announce the birth of Bradley Basil on April 13, 1998. Doug Morris'90 and his wife, Brenda, announce the birth of Joshua Douglas on May 5, 1998. Abigail joins Belle(2)at home in Woodbridge, Virginia, where John is an assistant principal at Broad Run High School and Rachel is a homemaker. Dave is a sales manager for Notion Industries, and Dana is employed as a nurse. Valerie Baise Harmon '91 and her husband, John, announce the birth of John Maxwell on February 11, 1998. Max joins a sister, Sarah (4), at - home in Lebanon, Ohio. Eric '91 and Gwendolyn Workman Johnson '92 announce the birth of Trent Walker on April 15, 1998. She joins Michele(2) at home in Millersburg, Pennsylvania. Wendy Miller Orchard '91 and her husband, Paul, announce the birth of Ryan Eric on August 9, 1998. Ryan joins a brother, Brendan, at home in Xenia, Ohio. Paul is an assistant professor of physical education and the men and women's track coach at Cedarville College. Wendy works part-time out of the home. Doug Pierson '91 and his wife, Valerie, announce the birth of their first child, Sumner Joy, on July 20, 1997. Doug serves as the director of Crossroads Christian Youth Center in Big Rock, Illinois. Julie Kenyon Williams '91 and her husband, Jon, announce the birth of Erica Orion on May 25, 1998. The Williams live in Kettering, Ohio, where Julie is a teacher and Jon is a network administrator. Terri Webster Card '92 and her husband, Thomas, announce the birth of Austin Thomas on May 24, 1998. Austin joins Andrew (5)at home in Apalachin, New York, where Terri teaches at Ross Corners Christian Academy. Jon '92 and Abbe Beach Gudeman'93 announce the birth of Joshua Alan on December 23, 1997. The Gudemans reside in Roanoke, Virginia. Susan Nicholson Houser'92 and her husband, Morgan, announce the birth of Isaac Charles on December 18, 1997. The Houser family resides in Sitka, Alaska. Brian '92 and Dana Guy Phipps'90 announce the birth of Tyson Drew on April 20, 1998. Tyson joins Taylor at home in Kayseri, Turkey. Joy Sissom Seitz'92 and her husband, Chris, announce the birth of Noah Christopher on April 14, 1998. Noah joins Carly(2) at home in Kokomo, Indiana. Laura Hollander Sinkonis'92 and her husband, Steve, announce the birth of David Stephen on April 9, 1998. The family resides in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. Layne Turner'92 and his wife, Stephanie, announce the birth of Alex on January 25, 1998. Layne is employed with Wimsey and Watkins Accountants. The family resides in Coldwater, Michigan. Steve'93 and Katie Irish Heath '93 announce the birth of Andrew Chauncey on December 24, 1997. They are living in Keego Harbor, Michigan. John '93 and Maribeth Tramel Jacobson '93 announce the birth of Luke Elijah on January 20, 1998. Born ten weeks premature, Luke spent several weeks in NICU and is now doing very well at home with big brother Jake (2). John is the controller at the Columbia Medical Center of Arlington, and Maribeth is a homemaker. The Jacobsons attend McKinney Memorial Bible Church in Fort Worth, Texas. Scott '93N and Tawna Latham Kreitzer '93N announce the birth of twins, Mason Alexander and Isaac Logan, on December 9, 1997. The boys join Dylan (3)at home in Cincinnati, Ohio. Scott received his master's degree in aerospace engineering from the University of Cincinnati in 1995 and is a mechanical engineer for Siemens Energy and Automation. Towne is a homemaker. Shelly Heldreth Pelletier '94 and her husband, Eric, announce the birth of Caleb Wilson on April 8, 1998. The Pelletiers reside in Arlington, Virginia, and Shelly attends Georgetown School of Law. Stephen '94 and Deana Stephen Stone '93 announce the birth of Victoria Marie on June 3, 1998. Stephen is a security officer at Cedarville College, and Deana works in Centennial Library's audiovisual services. Phil Calvert'95 and his wife, Kristin, announce the birth of their first child, Kara Joy, on August 9, 1997. Phil completed a master's degree in engineering management from Oakland University and works for Chrysler Corporation. Tim '95 and Naomi Jensen Cowley'95 announce the birth of Marika Anne on September 4, 1997. The Cowleys live in Gilbert, Arizona. Jennifer Timblin Klotz'96 and her husband, Joachim, announce the birth of Jeremy Robert on May 1, 1998. They reside in Giessen, Germany, where Joachim attends seminary. Lisa Neale Skillman '96 and her husband, Charles, announce the birth of Preston Charles on June 16, 1998.The Skillmans reside in Arcade, New York. IN MEMORY OF Arlene Nightingale Genutis'68 died on May 21, 1998. After gaining her elementary education degree at Cedarville, Arlene went on to teach school in Maryland, Missouri, Ohio, and New Jersey. She was involved in her church library, missions committee, and women's ministry. We offer our sympathy to her husband, Allen, of Elwell, Michigan. Larry Harris'82 died of a heart attack on July 13, 1998 at the age of 54. Larry was the pastor of Bible Missionary Church in Wilmington, Ohio. We extend our sympathies to his church family, his wife Eleanor, and his children, Larry '87N, Daniel, David, Larita, Philip, Stephen, and Timothy. Hawkins Receives Honorary Doctorate The Cedarville College Board of Trustees awarded the honorary degree I of Doctor of Divinity to Pastor Eddie L. Hawkins at the June commencement ceremony. Dr. Hawkins is the senior pastor of Good Shepherd Baptist Church of Cleveland, Ohio. Cedarville College President Dr. Paul Dixon conferred the degree and said,"Eddie Hawkins is a man greatly used by God in the ministry of His Word. Born in Studgard, Arkansas, Brother Hawkins graduated from high school in Flint, Michigan and prepared for ministry at the Baptist School of the Bible in Cleveland, Ohio. He founded the Good Shepherd Baptist Church of Cleveland in 1962, the year he graduated from Bible School. He continues as the Senior Pastor [at the church]which has grown under his leadership from the initial membership of twelve people to a congregation in excess of two thousand." "Pastor Hawkins ministry has extended far beyond the church. He has actively prepared others for effective ministry through his church and through his teaching at the Baptist Bible Institute of Cleveland and the Central Bible College of Cleveland. He and his congregation have started two other churches in the Cleveland area. He is Chairman of the Board of the Cleveland Baptist Bible College, and he has served on the Board of Trustees of Cedarville College since 1994." "Pastor Hawkins is a man of great grace and dignity. He is also a man to whom God has entrusted a great deal of influence, and we are grateful that he has chosen to be an advocate for Cedarville College," Dr. Dixon concluded. 11 FALL'98
