Renee Randall Smith '92 and her husband, Pete, announce the birth of Denali Alyssa on January 11, 1999. She joins her brother, Zephyr, at home in Brawn, New York. Laun '93 and Lynann Salzman Adams'93 announce the birth of Cyle Benjamin on April 5, 1999. Laun is a CPA working as the senior accountant at TEAM's international headquarters, and Lynann is a kindergarten teacher and assistant manager for a Kid's Choice center. The family resides in Illinois. Tim '93 and Jennifer Lahmas Edsell'93 announce the birth of Abigail Rose on February 4, 1999. Tim is the math teacher at Northeastern Jr./Sr. High School and is the assistant coach for varsity football and baseball. Jennifer has resigned her elementary teaching position to stay at home with Abby. They reside in Fountain City, Indiana. Tim '93N and Holly Moor Floyd '93 announce the birth of identical twin girls, Caitlin Maureen and Brianna Lynn, on January 1, 1998. Tim works in research and development at D & N Bending, while Holly is blessed to spend each day at home with the girls. The family resides in Port Huron, Michigan. Steve Holden '93 and his wife, Michelle, announce the birth of Troop Michael on April 15, 1999. He joins a brother, Hunter, at home in Edmond, Oklahoma. Steve operates his own law practice, co-teaches an adult Sunday school class, and is on the board of trustees at Calvary Baptist Church. Karen Dieter Linton '93 and her husband, Greg, announce the birth of Nathaniel Thomas on April 29, 1999. Greg works for UPS, and Karen works out of the home in Covington, Kentucky. Travis Baise '94N and his wife, Tawnya, announce the birth of Brooke Aliya on May 26, 1999. She joins her sister, Briana, and brother, Brody, at home in Jamestown, Ohio. Jay LeBlanc'94 and his wife, Shannon, announce the birth of McKenna Elise on June 24, 1999. Jay is the minister of worship/music at Southgate Baptist Church in Springfield, Ohio. Rory'94 and Cheryl Pinkerton Patterson '93 announce the birth of Andrew Norman on May 11, 1999. Andrew was a month premature and had some trouble breathing, but the Pattersons are trusting in God's healing. They reside in Oxford, Ohio. Chadwick Persons'94 and his wife, Penny, announce the birth of Cameron Brian. He was born July 12, 1999 and joins his sister, Myranda (4). Chadwick is a youth pastor in Thief River Falls, Minnesota. He is also a school bus driver and a cross country head coach. Sharon Beckham Swackhammer'94N and her husband, Troy, announce the birth of twin boys, Bryce Austin and Brod( Andrew, born August 5, 1998. Their big brother, Blake (3), welcomed them home in Cary, North Carolina. Troy is the assistant administrator of Southern Eye Associates, and Sharon stays at home with the boys. Claire Grazier Bolha '95 and her husband, Bob, announce the birth of Luke Daniel on February 27, 1999. His brother, Nathan (2), awaited his arrival in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Bob commands a squadron of cadets at the U.S. Air Force Academy, and Claire is a homemaker. Jason '95 and Dacia Davis Borton '95N announce the birth of Nathan Michael on April 9, 1999. The family resides in Rock Falls, Illinois. Kevin '95 and Heather Peters Fath '94 announce the birth of Justin Laurence on September 30, 1998. The Faths reside in Smithville, Ohio. Brad '95 and Amy Martin Francis'96 announce the birth of Kiah Allyn on November 26, 1998. He joins the family in Henderson, Kentucky. Angie Baker Gollner '95 and her husband, Steve, announce the birth of their two girls, Hannah Grace on March 19, 1998 and Sarah Faith on April 29, 1999. The family resides in Kokomo, Indiana. Ann Woodman Leaver '95 and her husband, Chris, announce the birth of Daniel Michael. He was born September 20, 1998 and joins his brother, Joshua (2), at home in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Chris is a computer engineer at Meijer, Inc., and Ann stays at home with the boys. Allan McGuire'95 and his wife, Joyce, announce the birth of Mark Allan on November 4, 1998 in Mbabane, Swaziland. Scott'95 and Cinnamon Bierly Schwinn '95 announce the birth of their two children. Autumn Ann was born November 17, 1995, and Hunter Adam was born March 25, 1998. Scott is a youth leader with Campus Life in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, and Cinnamon is a nurse at Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center. Andy Biddle'96 and his wife, Megan, announce the birth of their son on February 16, 1999. Andy and Megan were married in 1998 at New Freedom Baptist Church in Vernon, Indiana. Andy makes Duncan yo-yo's at Flambeau Products in Columbus, Indiana. Marisa Young Moore'96 and her husband, Rick, announce the birth of Hannah Jane on June 15, 1998. Marisa is a homemaker, and Rick is a youth minister at First Christian Church in Huber Heights, Ohio. &Asa= 4.; * k.), • tok, Jason '96 and Lisa Dietterick Young '96 announce the birth of Alexander Clyde on March 12, 1998. They live near Philadelphia, where Jason has completed two years at Calvary Baptist Theological Seminary. Lisa stays at home with Alexander and works occasionally as a pediatric nurse. Jeremy Farlow '97 and his wife, Tara, announce the birth of Angela Kate on April 28, 1999. They are living in Waterloo, Iowa, where Jeremy works for John Deere. They attend Hagerman Baptist Church. Robert MacDonald '97 and his wife, Terri, announce the birth of Jonathan Daniel on April 11, 1999. Robbie and Katherine welcomed their new baby brother in Auburn, Washington. Heather Bethel Pendleton '97 and her husband, Todd, announce the birth of Caleb Todd Ryan on April 5, 1999. The family resides in West Buxton, Maine. Focus ON THE FIELD Jim '61 and Esther Weiss Entner '61 have taken a temporary leave from the Association of Baptists for World Evangelism (ABWE)due to the need of caring for Esther's mom. They had been ministering in the Philippines to various hospitals and churches. Jeannie Lockerbie Stephenson '61 and her husband, Wally, are missionaries with ABWE. They often have the privilege and awesome responsibility to counsel people considering missions. Jeannie received word that four stories she wrote as part of a children's book have now been packaged as tracts and given to patients in the Bangladesh hospital. Irene Benson '63 is serving among the Waiwais Indians in Brazil. She is helping to translate the Bible into their language. In August, Irene was excited to see the church hold their first Bible conference since 1993. Norm '64 and Evelyn Thorns Nicklas'64 recently celebrated their thirty-fifth wedding anniversary. Since 1983, Norm has directed the development of 50 new churches in North America with ABWE. Dennis Bellew '65 and his wife, Frances, were excited to see eight students graduate from the Bluewater seminary campus in May.They are serving the Lord in the Virgin Islands. Gary Holtz'67 and his wife, Betty, have served 23 years with Baptist Mid-Missions. Currently, Gary is the Campus Bible Fellowship coordinator for North America. Mark '67 and Beth Ziegler Trimble'67 are praising the Lord for answer to prayer. They prayed for personnel at Acre Baptist Seminary, operating finances, and a campus of their own. All were answered in magnificent ways. Please pray for protection from illnesses for Mark, Beth, and their daughter, Emily. Dan '68 and Nancy Norton Brower'69 have much to be excited about in Brazil. They are seeing God turn people's hearts toward Him, have watched the construction of a church building come to completion, and have seen their own church call a new pastor due to their furlough. Their one concern is for the shaky economic situation that is facing Brazil. Bruce '69 and Beverly Hare McDonald '72N are facing much opposition while trying to work with pro athletes, especially in the sport of hockey. They do praise the Lord for the good turnout at basketball chapels. In the month of March they saw more than 30 people pray to receive Christ as Savior. Robert'70N and Jane Austin Kilko '70 have moved from Sao Paulo to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to open a Jewish work for Baptist Messianic Ministries. They are excited to enter this new area and are rejoicing in the way the Lord worked it out. They have also found a missionary colleague who is helping them edit their Israel videos. Their desire is to make these available to churches and Bible schools to share the history and geography of Israel. Patty Neely Zemmer'76N and her husband, Dave, are thrilled to be back in Barreiras, Brazil after more than 18 months on furlough. They have been busy with language refresher courses and many Bible studies. Tom '78 and Karin Angel Benefiel'79 have resigned from their work with Campus Bible Fellowship at the University of Toledo. Tom is now assistant to the pastor as the business administrator and mission coordinator at Emmanuel Baptist in Toledo, Ohio. He will be able to continue his relationship with missionaries and travel abroad on mission trips. The church is hiring a new campus pastor to continue the work they began at the University of Toledo. David '79 and Rebecca Stewart Drozek '81 have moved to Honduras. David and Rebecca have been overwhelmed with raising support, learning the language, and dealing with the details of opening a clinic and hospital. However, it all came into focus with their first day at the clinic. The people are very much in need of a caring person who can handle their medical needs and not be afraid of them. Susan Felty Mains'79 and her husband, Reuben, share that they are facing challenges with the progress of the B.C.A. school building project. The primary and secondary schools are in two different locations, which is putting a strain on Reuben, because he is the administrator at both schools. The Mains have two children, Stephen and Asher, and serve in Grenada. Calvin Clark '81 and his wife, Carol, report that their church in Campinas, Brazil has purchased a piece of property in order to build a church! They have had an average attendance of 156 over the last three months. The Clarks have been amazed at the sacrificial giving of their people. Cal and Carol have three children: Jacqueline, Nicholas, and Breanna. Gary'83H and Becky Selden Kuhn '78 serve with ABWE at Baguio City in the Philippines. They are encouraged by having their neighborhood Bible study reach a more intense level of study. Becky has begun a Bible study for area pastors' wives that provides spiritual encouragement and refreshment for all. The months of April and May were filled with weeks of DVBS. Becky presented a teacher workshop in preparation for DVBS and 75 teachers attended. Praise the Lord! This summer they looked forward to visits from family, including their newly-engaged daughter, Kristin, who is a senior at Cedarville College. Also, the annual basketball evangelism ministry brought the Athletes for Christ from Cedarville College. Lois Gelatt Sexton'83 and her husband, Carl, praise the Lord for their new home in Argentina. They have been using the house on a regular basis to further the Gospel and minister to the saints. Their second missionary conference resulted in many people dedicating their lives to serve the Lord. Gary Brewer'84 and his wife, Kathy, rejoice in seeing two New Testament translation projects come to completion in the past six months. The Brewers work with Bibles International. Aaron '85 and Annegret Grosse Bowes'87N share that they are starting to have people attend a Bible study in their home. There could be a possibility that Aaron will be called as the pastor of the mission church that they attend. Their goal would be to keep the church going, as well as the Bible study in their home. The Bowes are serving in Germany with their four children: Hanna, Philip, Kathrin, and Emily. Anthony Pepe'85 and his wife, Kathy, have found in the past few months that an increasing number of people have been coming to them with their problems. This is a wonderful opportunity to show people their need for the Savior. They have had several young children and a teenager come to know Christ recently. God used flooding of the neighborhood to get Tony acquainted with the neighbors in March. He now plays basketball with a group of men on a weekly basis. The Pepes are ministering in France. Pete Wright'86 and his wife, Sonya, will soon be serving the Lord in Chile. Their commissioning service was held on August 8, 1999 at West Park Baptist Church in Knoxville, Tennessee. Jennifer Kierstead '95 expresses she loves living and teaching in Brazil. She is leading eight girls in a discipleship group on a regular basis. Pray that this will be an effective ministry and encouragement to these girls. Jennifer shares that language classes are going well, but she still has much to learn. She was able to lead a group of high school students on a missions trip in June. They worked on projects, sang, and led children's clubs. She is thankful for the surprise visit to the States she had in July. Kristi Nordaas'95 serves with SEND International in Russia. She is busy learning the language, homeschooling a couple of girls, and teaching English to several groups. Pray for her tutor, Olga, that she would see her need for Jesus. Derek'96 and Yoshimi Ikeda Johnson '96 are now serving as missionary teachers in South Korea with Network of International Christian Schools. Derek will teach fifth grade, and Yoshi will teach Japanese to high school students. The Johnsons had previously been in Columbia, South Carolina, where Yoshi received her master's degree in Bible from Columbia International University. IN MEMORY OF Carl Frazier '29 passed away March 13 at the age of 95. We extend our sympathies to his wife, Margaret Chandler Frazier '29, in Cincinnati, Ohio. Ruth Reiter Bisel'32 passed away January 31, 1999. During her years of teaching, Ruth distinguished herself as an innovative teacher of child education. She lived in Sarasota, Florida. Lucille Stroup Eyler'33N passed away May 27, 1999 at the age of 86 in Xenia, Ohio. Esther Shump Ark'37 passed away February 6, 1999. She lived in Springfield, Ohio. Earl Allison '39 passed away March 22, 1998. His wife, Merieum Foulk Allison '41N, lives in Springfield, Ohio. Blutcher Gibson '47 passed away June 20, 1999 due to leukemia. Blutcher was a former Xenia school district administrator and YMCA leader. Our sincere condolences to his wife, Margie, and other family members. Harold Warix '49 passed away May 18, 1999 at the age of 71. He had worked many years as a school teacher and accountant. We extend our sympathies to his wife, Carol Dillon Warix '51, and many other family members. Charles Moore '51 passed away in August 1998. He and his wife, Mary Jo, were missionaries to Liberia, West Africa with Baptist Mid-Missions. Dallas Dillon '67 passed away May 14, 1999 in Cedarville, Ohio. He had been the Xenia Water Department clerk for the past 17 years. He attended Calvary Baptist Church in Xenia, Ohio. Our sincere condolences to his daughters and sons-in-law, Russell '88 and Melody Dillon Wight'90 and Jeff and Sheila Dillon Miele '94. Sandra White Smith '73N passed away July 11, 1999 of cancer.
