A lumniAssociation News Alumni Office Support Staff T he alumni office staff is an invaluable ingredient in serving Cedarville College alumni.It is exciting to have a record number offour full-time staff positions in the alumni office with two students providing necessary office support. Volunteers and freelance workers round out the alumni office effort of keeping more than 19,000 alumni connected with the College. Patricia Belliveau joined the alumni office staff in August 1997 as the event coordinator. This professional position was created to serve alumni by planning special events that target members of the Alumni Association,such as class, club, sports, and Homecoming reunions; regional alumni chapter events; and other activities, both on and off campus. Patty is a 1990 graduate of Kent State University and is a licensed social worker. Her past work experience includes serving with the Cleveland Crisis Pregnancy Center,the Boy Scouts of America,and the Cedarville College Career Services Office. Patty's husband, Greg,teaches in Cedarville's department oflanguage and literature. Charity Rizer'98 became the alumni office administrative assistant in January 1999. Her responsibilities include answering telephone calls, alumni correspondence, and e-mail. She also coordinates the publication of Inspire, including brainstorming on each issue with the editor, assigning and writing articles, gathering pictures,coordinating deadlines,and editing copy and design. This ties in well with her degree in English education. Charity is from Virginia Beach,Virginia and plans to marry Jason Grahame'99 in December of this year. Emily Wiljamaa'98 began her work in the alumni office in July 1999. Filling the newly-created position of assistant to the event coordinator,Emily works closely with Patty in the planning and implementing of all alumni events. In addition to creating invitations and tracking event responses,she will coordinate all the Heritage Alumni events and work on the alumni web site. After graduating from Cedarville with a degree in organizational communications,Emily went on to receive her MBA from Tiffin University in May 1999 while living at home in Findlay, Ohio. Cindy Congdon '00 has been working as the student assistant in the alumni office since September 1998. She is majoring in business and recently completed a summer tour with the Cedarville College Abundant Life Singers. Cindy transferred to Cedarville from Baptist Bible College and hails from Randolph,New York. Shawn Stephens'00 spent her summer as a student intern in the alumni office in the area of event planning. In addition to assisting with the planning and implementation ofsummer events, Shawn will also help with Homecoming this fall. Planning to complete her degree in just three years, Shawn is an organizational communications major and will marry Scott Vandegrift'98 in the summer of 2000.
