Sandy Distler Brown ’91 and her husband, Tom, announce the birth of Austyn Craig on November 1, 1999. Sandy is a legal secretary and teaches piano, and Tom is head grower for Hines Color Greenhouses. They reside in Warminster, Pennsylvania. David ’91 and Danna Lichty Dykema ’90 announce the birth of Delaney on March 10, 2000. She joins her two sisters, Danielle (3) and Denise (2), at home in Rochester Hills, Michigan. David works as a 24 Fall 2000 Jane Romig Brooker ’86 teaches at Lakota West High School in West Chester, Ohio and has retired from competitive running. Her husband, Scott Brooker ’86 , is a youth director for West Chester Presbyterian and a track coach at Lakota West. Kelly Helmick ’87 received her master’s degree in education administration in May 1999. She teaches middle school math in St. Charles, Missouri, where she was named Teacher of the Month in September 1999 and Teacher of the Year in May 2000. Daniel Erlandson ’88 has been promoted to senior vice president for National City Corporation’s Corporate Banking Business Solutions Group in Cleveland, Ohio. Jill Slayton Puett ’88 and her husband, Stephen, were on furlough this summer from Guyana. They were pleased to hear that there had been a consistent attendance of 50 in church while they were in the States. Sue Baldis Carpenter ’89 coached the 1999-2000 Cedarville Lady Jackets to a 24-15 season. This marks the best first-year record of any Cedarville softball coach. Doug Loescher ’89 is enrolled at Baptist Bible Seminary, taking classes for his master of divinity and master of theology degrees. He and his wife, Irene, will start a one-year internship this fall at Ocean City Baptist Church in New Jersey. During a break from his seminary studies, Doug spent three years playing professional basketball in Germany. 90s Andrew ’90 and Meredith Clements Bidlen ’92 announce the birth of Audra Grace. She was born March 9, 2000, and was welcomed home by Drew (5) and Mallory (2). They reside in North Royalton, a suburb of Cleveland, Ohio, where Andy is a technology specialist for DPAI Technology Services. Dionne Keens ’90 and Michael Pells were married April 3, 1999 at the Manassas Church of the Brethren in Manassas, Virginia. After a honeymoon in Cancún, Mexico, the couple has made their home in Manassas. Michael is a Web site manager at NADA, and Dionne is in her seventh year of teaching first grade in the Fairfax County Public Schools. Shelly Lemponen ’90 and William Krull were married November 20, 1999 at Maranatha Baptist Church in Columbus, Ohio. They enjoyed a honeymoon in Williamsburg, Virginia before returning home to Columbus. Shelly is a fourth grade teacher at Madison Christian School in Groveport, Ohio, and Bill is a foreman for Daniels Landscape Company in Galloway, Ohio. branch manager for Motion Industries, and Danna is a homemaker. Jennifer Leney Finke ’91 and her husband, Robert, announce the birth of Patrick William on May 20, 2000. They reside in Darien, Connecticut. Anne Sherwood Leap ’91 and her husband, Garry, announce the births of their two children. Alivia Anne was born on October 31, 1996, and Aubree Marie was born on May 28, 1999. They live in Mishawaka, Indiana, where Anne stays at home with the girls, and Garry is a self-employed hairdresser. Ralph ’92 and Gia Wood Ciotola ’92 announce the birth of Anthony Wayne. He was born February 22, 2000 in Worthington, Ohio and joins his brother, Nicolas (4). Ralph is an account manager with CoreComm, and Gia enjoys staying at home with the boys. Mike Measley ’92 praises the Lord for between 40 and 50 believers in Malaumanda (Papua New Guinea). His team has changed their focus from learning the language and culture to teaching and discipling. Mike is also involved with translating the book of Mark. Lora Swigart Scott ’92 and her husband, Matt, announce the birth of Hannah Ruth on October 22, 1999. They reside in Goshen, Indiana. Matt is a graphic designer with Scott Signs, and Lora does Creative Memories out of their home. Proud grandparents are Ken ’64 and Phyllis Irish Swigart ’65N . Uncles Roger Swigart ’90 and Jim Swigart ’95 welcome her as well. Robert Reed ’93 received his master of divinity degree from Baptist Bible Seminary on May 12, 2000. He is currently the pastor of worship and discipleship at Parker Hill Community Church in Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania. Christine O’Neal Wanner ’93 and her husband, Paul, announce the birth of Cade Austin on July 27, 1999. They reside in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, where Paul works for Coca-Cola and Christine stays at home with Cade and runs a home business. Sarah Stiles Palmer ’94 was named as Wal-Mart’s Teacher of the Year in May 1999. Sarah teaches sixth “The Lord Gave and the Lord has Taken Away....” (Job 1:21) Dave ’90 and Karen Lehe announce the birth of quadruplets Will Franklin, Micah David, Holly Brooke, and Courtney Elizabeth on March 22, 1999, and the death of Will Franklin on April 3, 1999. Delivered prematurely via Caesarean section, the babies were progressing well in the neonatal intensive care unit until Will suddenly developed necrotic entercolitis (NEC), a disease which destroys the bowel. Will’s NEC was so advanced that surgery was ineffective. Family and friends gathered to hold Will and to read Psalm 100 to him as he passed away on April 3. Holly (called Brooke) and Courtney also developed NEC, leaving the Lehes wondering if they would be taking any of their children home from the hospital. God spared Brooke and Courtney, however, and 97 days after the babies’ birth, Brooke, Courtney, and Micah were all home. Dave and Karen would like to thank their family, friends, and church for their invaluable help throughout the first year of the babies’ lives. They also thank God for giving them such flexible employment situations: Karen is a partner in an all- swine veterinary practice in Wolcott, Indiana, and Dave works for Shaffer Superior Genetics as a coordinator of a pork production network in Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Michigan, and Kentucky. The Lehes praise God for his faithfulness and would love to help others who may have experienced a multiple birth, the loss of a child, or a child with a serious illness.
