26 Fall 2000 Jason Atwell ’98 and Courtenay Shoaff ’98 were married June 17, 2000 at Leesburg Baptist Church in Leesburg, Virginia. Several Cedarville alumni participated in the wedding. After a honeymoon in Sanibel Island, Florida, the couple has made their home in Cedarville, Ohio, where they both work for Cedarville University. Jason is the assistant director of admissions for guest services, and Courtenay is the assistant director of admissions for recruitment. Mark Edwards ’98 and Amy Twigg ’00N were married June 17, 2000 in Martinsburg, West Virginia. Mark works as a support specialist in the computer services department of Cedarville University, and Amy started her special education student teaching this fall. They reside in Fairborn, Ohio. Heather Fourman ’98 received her master’s degree in English from West Virginia University in June 2000. She plans to gain more teaching experience this year at the university, then start her doctoral program next fall. Dacia Heil ’98N and Timothy Eachus were married November 6, 1999 at Pittsgrove Baptist Church in Daretown, New Jersey. They reside in Monroeville, New Jersey and are expecting their first child in the fall. Joe Lloyd ’98 is in his second year of studies at Baptist Bible Seminary in Pennsylvania. William Workman ’98 and Julie Shaffer were married May 6, 2000. The couple enjoyed a honeymoon in the Bahamas. They now reside in Columbus, Ohio, where Bill is the minister of youth at Sharon Woods Baptist Church and Julie works for Nationwide Financial Retirement Solutions. Andrew Malone ’99 and Patricia Rice ’98 were married October 2, 1999 in Warren, Pennsylvania. The outdoor wedding was held at the home of Patricia’s grandparents along the Allegheny River. Many Cedarville students and alumni participated in the ceremony. After a honeymoon on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada, they have settled in Kensington, Maryland. Andrew is in the business of home remodeling and repairs and plans to use his skills on the “fixer-upper” house they bought. Patricia is a nurse at a local hospital. Chris Moles ’99 and Kathleen Pugh ’99 were married August 21, 1999 in Charleston, West Virginia. Several Cedarville students and alumni participated in the ceremony. They have made their home in Winfield, West Virginia where Chris is a youth pastor, and Kathleen works in the accounting department at Toyota Motor Manufacturing. Craig Shank ’99 is in his first year at the Medical College of Ohio in Toledo. He received the President’s Scholarship, a four-year full-tuition scholarship. Rebecca Shelford ’99 is a field sales manager with Vector Marketing Corporation. She recently received the $50,000 career sales milestone award. She resides in Naples, Florida. In Memory Of Olive Brill Carlsen ’36 passed away June 23, 2000. We extend our sympathies to her husband, Fredrick, and other family members. Helen Fletcher ’39N passed away at the age of 86 on May 6, 2000. She was a retired teacher, having taught for 39 years, and was very active in the Jamestown, Ohio community. William Ferguson ’50N passed away July 2, 2000. He retired from Morris Bean Company in 1991, after serving 37 years. He had been a member of the Cedarville town council for 21 years and an elder at Clifton United Presbyterian Church. Our sincere condolences to his wife, Virginia, and many other family members. Charles Thomas ’52 passed away at the age of 85 on May 14, 2000. He was retired from Capital Savings & Loan Company, having served more than 30 years. We extend our sympathies to his family and friends. Faith Comstock Hammond ’70 passed away on July 15, 2000 after a battle with cancer. Her husband, Mike ’69 , offers thanks for the prayers, notes, and encouragement that came from so many. Memorials may be given in Faith’s name to Partners in Christ (Dominican Republic), Grace Christian School (Watervliet, Michigan), or Hospice at Home (South Haven, Michigan). Contact the alumni relations office for more information. James Abercrombie Jr. ’79 passed away at the age of 42 on June 14, 2000. He lived in Shelbyville, Tennessee. Angela Sue Justice Johnson ’99 died July 29, 2000 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. A teacher in Springfield (Ohio) and Troy (Ohio), Angela attended Southgate Baptist Church in Springfield. She is survived by her husband, Aaron ’99 (whom she married on January 22, 2000), twin sister, Allison Justice ’99 , and her parents and grandparents. Gone Home to be With Him Nancy Fissel ’68N died August 4, 2000. Nancy was the head cashier for the accounts receivable office at Cedarville and had worked at Cedarville for 31 years. Nancy loved her job, and she always had a giving spirit. Nancy is survived by her mother, Phyllis, brother, Roger ’72N , and sister, Deborah Fissel Estes ’78N . Two of Nancy’s nephews (Joel and Jon Estes) attend Cedarville University. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Diabetes Association in Nancy’s honor.
