Have you always thought you could not afford it? You can fund a scholarship by making a minimum annual gift of $1,000. Your gift is deductible for income tax purposes. You can choose the award criteria and name the scholarship in honor or in memory of a loved one. You can: 1. Make a gift of $1,000 each year and establish a named scholarship. 2. Provide immediate assistance to a student with need. 3. Avoid capital gains tax if appreciated assets are used to fund the scholarship. 4. Reduce your federal and state income taxes. The office of gift planning would like to explain how you can establish a named scholarship at Cedarville University. Please contact Dave Bartlett or Kim Longo at 1-800-766-1115. Check out http://www.cedarville.edu/dept/cpp/stw/k5/index.htm to explore the 11 disciplines (such as self-assessment, career information, exploration, employability skills, economics, etc.) broken into three groupings: K-5, middle school, and high school. There are handy information breakdowns on the site, such as suggested learning goals and activities, to assist parents/teachers in exposing students to a variety of real world employment concepts for the global workplace. We know that 60 percent of all students graduating from high school levels of education will NOT complete four years of higher education (only 20 percent do!) or even two years (another 20 percent do!). While home- schooled and privately educated students have a significantly higher college success rate, we did not want them to be at risk when the various public education graduates hit the job market armed with their School-to- Work preparation and their passports (high school resumes). Being aware of these disciplines will prepare students well for any college, university, or employment eventuality. Contact the career services office at career@cedarville.edu with any questions or comments. Have You Visited Cedarville Lately? Last year Cedarville welcomed nearly 8,000 guests for campus visits. Many of these were church and school groups led by alumni ! There is nothing better than a campus visit to help high school students learn about Cedarville! Coming on a typical class day gives students a realistic view of all that the University has to offer spiritually, academically, and socially. Would you like to introduce a group of high school students to Cedarville? Plan a group visit today! We’ll customize schedules to meet the needs and interests of each student. While on campus, you may: - Attend chapel - Tour the campus - Visit classes - Talk with professors - Discuss financial aid opportunities - Meet with an admissions counselor - Speak with coaches - Eat at Chuck’s - Attend a campus event - Spend a night in a residence hall All of this (including overnight housing) is provided at no charge to students! And, while you’re here, make some appointments of your own! Visit a former professor, enjoy a trip to Young’s, or check out the newest buildings and renovations on campus. Scheduling a visit is easy! Contact our guest relations staff at 1-800-CEDARVILLE (1-800-233- 2784), or make preliminary arrangements through the admissions Web site at www.cedarville.edu . Jason Atwell ’98, our assistant director for guest relations, will coordinate the details of your visit. “My goal is not only to encourage students to come to Cedarville,” said Jason, “but also to encourage them in their relationship with the Lord. This is a place that nurtures and fosters spiritual growth, and I want students to sense that even through their visit to campus.” Many groups schedule visits around basketball games and other special events.
