I would like to offer a word of thanks to the alumni who have presented me with this scholarship. I am deeply honored. Thank you for providing Cedarville University students with the opportunity to excel in their academic service for the Lord. Science and Mathematics Erin Avery is an Army ROTC cadet and will be commissioned in the United States Army as a second lieutenant after she graduates. The junior physics major is interested in either military intelligence or ordinance. A native of St. Cloud, Minnesota, Erin has been active in Habitat for Humanity, Joy Ranch ministry, Student Academic Advisory Board, Central State University ministry, and intramural sports. Thank you very much for choosing to invest in the lives and education of Cedarville students. Your giving is enabling us as students to continue our education at Cedarville, and thus grow in our knowledge of both God’s world and Word. Thank you again, and God bless. Social Sciences and History A resident of Anchor Point, Alaska, Laura Bailey would like to return to her home state to teach history and English in the “bush.” A junior majoring in adolescent and young adult integrated social studies education, Laura stays busy in Zion’s Light tutoring, women’s choir, and local church activities. Many thanks to the alumni for giving me this award – I am very honored! All of us appreciate your commitment to Cedarville and the current students, and we look forward to following your example. Heritage Corner Upcoming Heritage Events October 10 – Presidential Inauguration and Homecoming Reunion November 14 – Grandparents Day Heritage Alumni had a busy summer filled with activities. In June, the group went to a Reds game in Cincinnati where they enjoyed lunch at Mike Fink’s Restaurant, endured a rainy game, and applauded a Reds’ victory. Also in June, some of the men got together for their annual golf outing with Jeff Brock ’84 (amidst rain, yet again) while Kim Botta Longo ’02 kept the ladies company. In early July, alumnae educators joined together for a luncheon in the President’s Dining Room where Ruth Hussey Hess ’67 reminded the group of “Apples for the Teacher” … the gifts of encouragement. Later in July, several relived the “good ol’ days” of Springfield, Ohio at the Heritage Center. In August, the alumni took a trip to Neverland as they attended a production of Peter Pan at LaComedia Dinner Theatre. Tell Us Your Story Winter 2003 — Where Have All the Dreamers Gone?
