Inspire, Fall 2003

A new student organization was formed in 2000 with the primary goal of serving the Alumni Association and other friends of the University. This group of 12 students helps with alumni events, ministers to alumni, and initiates creative programming which introduces current students to alumni and the Alumni Association. In 2002-2003, Delta Alpha Epsilon (DAE) established the Kordic Project, which raised awareness for Mark Kordic ’87 as he fought cancer and went through a stem cell transplant. Through this project, prayer support was garnered and $2,500 was raised through a campus-wide coin drive. DAE also saw more than 300 students searching for Easter eggs in their “Great Easter Egg Hunt” and connected 250 students with local families for home-cooked dinners through their “Dinner for 8” program. DAE begins each school year with a trip during which they get to know each other and become acquainted with alumni through a variety of alumni events. This year’s camping trip took the group and their advisors (Faith Linn ’83 and Amy Cartzendafner Button ’97) to Skyview Ranch in Millersburg, Ohio; Cleveland, Ohio; Camp Patmos on Kelleys Island, Ohio; and Ft. Wayne, Indiana.
