Inspire 29 Joyce Bonenberger Brough ’84 and her husband, Dennis, announce the birth of Trevor Alexander on December 3, 2002. They reside in Casa Grande, Arizona. Tim ’84 and Alice Boyd Dysert ’84 announce the birth of Lydia Elizabeth on February 14, 2003 in Madrid. Her brothers, Stephen, Philip, and Nicolas, were excited to welcome her home. Becki Payton Konuch ’84 and her husband, Tim, recently returned to England following furlough. They have moved to a new city outside of London and are excited about the possibilities that this new city will bring. Aaron ’85 and Annegret Grosse Bowes ’87 have started a new ministry near their home in East Berlin, Germany. Their first church service was held in July 2003. The Bowes praise God for their meeting place. Jennifer Boer Nicholas ’85 and her husband, Steven, operate a wholesale pie and pastry bakery from their property in the picturesque Upper Yarra Valley in Australia. Steven works works full-time with son Timothy (16) at the bakery, while Jennifer home-schools the other five children and does the bakery bookkeeping. Emily (13) team-teaches Samuel (6) and Daniel (4) with her mother while continuing her own education. David (11) also works at the bakery sometimes after school. Jonathan (2) brings joy to all. The family is active in their local independent Baptist church, which actually began in Jennifer’s grandparents’ home many years ago. DeMaurice “De” Smith ’85 has been elected to the board of governors of the Washington D.C. Bar Association. De will serve a three-year term. He is a partner in the law firm of Latham & Watkins in the firm’s D.C. office. Jackie Wyse Jones ’86 and her husband, Michael, announce the birth of Martin Michael on July 31, 2002. He joins his siblings, Sydney (4) and Rodney (2), at home in Dayton, Ohio. Jackie, now a stay-at-home mom, taught junior high and high school English in Beavercreek, Ohio schools for 13 years. Greg Mears ’86 received his master of arts degree in counseling from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania in May 2003. Pete Wright ’86 and his wife, Sonya, rejoice that the money was provided to purchase equipment to begin the production of short radio programs in Chile. Pete, Sonya, and their daughter, Megan (2), are currently on home assignment. Kurt Anderson ’87 is a partner with the Elyria, Ohio firm of Fauver, Keyse-Walker & Donovan. In January 2003, he helped a home-schooling family obtain a ruling from the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio, applying the fourth amendment for the first time to a warrantless home search by social service workers. Dave Beverly ’87 and his wife, Lora, are serving the Lord in Manila, Philippines. They will spend one year in the U.S., putting together ministry research for the field council. Then they will move to Davao, Philippines. They have four children: DJ, Rachel, Megan, and Sean. Renee Bowen Peterson ’87 was named Private School Teacher of the Year at the Washington County (Maryland) Educator of the Year banquet in April 2003. Renee was an English teacher at Grace Academy in Hagerstown, Maryland, but now teaches English at Williamsport High School, Williamsport, Maryland. Tim ’88 and Connie Harvey Gault ’88 announce the birth of Tyler Joseph on February 3, 2003. Hannah (8) and Andrew (4) welcomed him home in Norfolk, Virginia. In July 2003, the family moved to Iwakuni, Japan, where Tim is the U.S. Navy chaplain to the 1st Marine air wing. Connie enjoys staying at home and home-schooling Hannah. Jill Slayton Puett ’88 and her husband, Stephen, serve the Lord in Guyana with UFM International. They spent a week in March helping an eye team give eye exams and hand out glasses. Lynell Smith ’88 praises God that He keeps opening doors of ministry for her in West Central Brazil. She is helping to teach religious classes to three fifth grade classes, and she has a weekly Bible study. Mark Baker ’89 and his wife, Yvonne, announce the birth of Brooke Anjie on May 28, 2003. She was welcomed home by her sister, Brynn, in Kirkland, Washington. Rich Ernst ’89 and his wife, Aracely, announce the birth of Noelani Elizabeth Praise on March 26, 2003. They reside in Indianapolis, Indiana. Beth Morse Natalello ’89 and her husband, Rick, reside in Virginia Beach, Virginia, with their son, Nicholas Paul (2). While on maternity leave from Greenbrier Christian Academy, Beth teaches piano lessons two evenings a week at Music and Arts Stores in Chesapeake. Rick is an assistant store manager at Sears. Jeff ’89 and Julie Titus Sanders ’90 and their children, JoHanna and Jacob, are pictured here with several Cedarville alumni who are their co-workers in Asia. Featuring Bob Carlisle, artist and creator of the hit song Butterfly Kisses, the special gave an inside view of celebrity fathers and their children. Tim lives in Houston Heights and attends The Second Baptist Church of Houston. Chris ’90 and Lara Long Gifford ’91 thoroughly enjoyed writing new songs for Lara’s new CD, The Wonder of God. They started out this project thinking it would be a series of covers that they would give away to close friends and family, but their producer encouraged them to pursue a project with original works. Kevin Howells ’90 , a member of the Cedarville University Alumni Council, contacted several friends with whom he had been out of touch and ended up with a 15-year reunion! The “Nushkie Brothers” lived together during their junior year and include (L to R) Dennis Johnson ’90 , Kirk Belmont ’90 , Tim Ryan ’90 , Kevin Howells ’90 , Bob Zender ’89 , Jim Gerakinis ’90 , and Nathan Bobbett ’90 . Rod ’90 and Sarah Taylor Perkins ’94 are hopeful that their church in South Africa will be able to be self- supporting, self-governing, and self-propagating in a few years. The Lord has really blessed this ministry. The orphan ministry, Bethesda Outreach, was given good news in the spring. They were told that the province’s social services department would pay for the salary of two social workers, which Bethesda would be able to train with no restrictions. David ’90 and Linda Garrigan Ryan ’90 announce the birth of Abigail Joy on June 22, 2002. She loves to be with her sisters, Allison (8) and Karis (6). The Ryans live in Canton, Ohio, where David is the pastor at Grace Baptist Church. Wendy Widder ’90 is pleased to announce the release of her second book, A Match Made in Heaven: How Singles and the Church Can Live Happily Ever After. A compelling call to singles and the church to rethink what it means to be the “Family of God,” this book suggests that a vital relationship exists between the church and singles — if they will only take the time and exert the effort to discover it. Kelly Fath ’91 is an ABWE appointee to Romania. He looks forward to becoming active in a local church and helping further develop the Church Ministries Institute once his prayer and financial support levels are met. Currently, Kelly lives in Michigan where he has started coursework toward a master of theology degree. In May, Kelly received his master of divinity in pastoral studies from Grand Rapids Baptist Seminary.
